I hate to tell you this, newdad, but the US has imprisoned men who are innocent. Evidence of this? Men who have been detained for up to four years without charge and who face detention indefinitely. Put yourself in those shoes - not terrorists, but people who got caught up in a sweep, people whose neighbors made up lies against them because of a grud ...[text shortened]... hat. I brought up the point a while ago that the u.s. has released 252 people from Guantanamo Bay whom were kidnapped and held without basic human rights for nearly 4 years. Are the u.s. in the habit of releasing terrorists for some reason?
If not, then they are kidnapping innocent people on the off chance that they are terrorists, and your arguments fall down straight away.

People like newdad believe the spin job they've been handed. Completely ignoring the fact that democrats controlled both houses of congress since WWII up until 1994. Our country became the wealthiest and most powerful nation on earth during those years. With democrats and republicans holding the presidency, and a congress with a majority of democrats, we became the only remaining superpower.
And yet... Republicans still paint everyone that disagrees with them as bleeding heart liberals. I simply don't understand it. It's obvious to me that having two parties with power to reign the other in when needed is much better than having one party control everything. Even better would be three or 4 parties.
