Please, no what aboutisms.
My point is that those who silence dissent use a pretext that sounds honorable to gullible people.

That seems like insight that any intelligent person ought to have. I crafted a short response to point that out, but I guess to make you happy I'd have to support my claim without using any actual history.

I'm familiar with the concept of "what about ism" and I don't think that applies to what I said. But you're working hard to avoid seeing any point I'm making, so I guess it sounds good to you.

But when I posted about NY Post being silenced shortly before an election after they had shared something truthful that helped Republicans, you started your post with Yawn and then you brought up a few falsehoods you seem to have had ready in your back pocket.

Can you tell me what your main point was?
You made a comment about "true content that helps Republicans next time".

That was a claim implying Republicans are generally concerned about truth; given the people Republicans support are notorious untrue statements, including who they support as president, I responded that "truth" is not something Republicans seem to care about.

Capisce?

Your words. Call me old fashioned but, someone says something, I listen
''...What excuses do you think China uses to censor dissent? What about Russia?...''
.........I don't disagree with you, tell people what they wanna' hear.
''The Big Lie,'' been around forever...Joseph Goebbels perfected it.
Donald Trump practiced it.
Problems come about when one man is powerful
enough to stifle dissent.......Musk is on record as averse to critics.

So are you are are you not concerned that Twitter blocked content that was true that would have helped Republicans? The example of the NY Post is clear and unambiguous. They shared something true, and it was silenced by Twitter. All shortly before an election.

Here is what I shared Are you worried that Twitter won't silence the NY Post for posting true content that helps Republicans next time? Your quick quip starting with Yawn doesn't instill a lot of confidence that you really care about free speech for those who favor different polices than you.

In light of the fact that so much misinformation passes both ways, are you even slightly worried that something you think is false would be silenced because many think it's false, but in reality turns out to be true? It doesn't sound like it to me.

Has that even happened to you before. Was there ever anything you thought was false that later turned out to be true?

LOL.

Who is not "averse" to their own critics? Your insight into Elon Musk is amazing.

Oh, man, this is clearly going to make liberals hippity-hop mad. No more censuring conservatives.
I wonder if Musk will censure liberals/wokes, et al?

@vivfy says Has this move handed Trump 2024 on a silver platter? Given that Trump already leads Biden in polls, seems so.

You're way out in front, Viv. I'm saying Trump will not run on GOP ticket 2024. Desantis is the man,

Musk has mentioned making the algorithms open-sourced. That seems to be inclining toward fairness. That's something the Twitter wouldn't have considered before.

Fair enough.

Not disagreeing, but I'd say I worry a lot less about Elon Musk owning Twitter than the prior ownership and also a lot less than Jeff Bezos owning the Washington Post.

It is interesting that prior to now, most Democrats didn't even acknowledge there could possible be anything other than objectivity in social media censorship.

Regardless of what Musk does, at least for now there is still Google, Youtube, Facebook and several left leaning news organizations.

And if he has started this journey out of averseness to criticism, he'd have done a lot better keeping is billions and focusing on Tesla.

If he follows through on his idea to make Twitter algorithms public, that would say an awful lot about his willingness to seek fairness.

I'm not aware of what you're talking about. You'd have to post a link.

Metal Brain once claimed MTG posted "true" content that was blocked. It turned out she posted factual data but used it in a misleading way. I wouldn't be surprised if this is the case with the NY Post.

Yeah, there 'ya go again
WHATABOUT JEFF BEZOS.
Don't know or understand algorithms but,
I feel Marjorie Taylor-Greene's ban would
have been enforced on Jane Fonda, or Abby Hoffman
or any extremist groups, whenever.
No one knows more of spreading falsehoods
via Twitter than #45.

Give me a while to dig up the best links. It is absolutely mind-blowing the level of dishonesty.

But, it is interesting that you don't know what I'm talking about. It shows how well censorship works.

I suspect this will lead to the rise of a new competitor to Twitter which will get all the rational posters while Twitter will devolve into a space overwhelmed by propaganda spam.
