I suspect this will lead to the rise of a new competitor to Twitter which will get all the rational posters while Twitter will devolve into a space overwhelmed by propaganda spam.
Astute observation.....
TRUMP claims he won't use Twitter...
of course, we all know the worth of TRUMP'S claims.

Jack Dorsey's take on Elon Musk's buying Twitter

In principle, I don’t believe anyone should own or run Twitter. It wants to be a public good at a protocol level, not a company. Solving for the problem of it being a company however, Elon is the singular solution I trust. I trust his mission to extend the light of consciousness.

Yeah, we may find that Trump "lied" about this if he returns to Twitter.

If that is the typical nature of his "lies", I'd still vote for him over Hillary or Biden.

More from Jack Dorsey on Twitter puchase...

The idea and service is all that matters to me, and I will do whatever it takes to protect both. Twitter as a company has always been my sole issue and my biggest regret. It has been owned by Wall Street and the ad model. Taking it back from Wall Street is the correct first step.

What could possibly inspire someone to vote,
for a twice impeached, draft dodging, tax cheat who told
OVER 30,000 DOCUMENTED LIES in ONE term?

Excellent. The democrats are angry that people will be able to speak freely on twitter as if that is a horrible thing.

Democrats that don't like it can either join on twitter or self censor themselves. Don't want your opinions heard on twitter? Do it on fascistbook.

Out of the hands of shareholders,
into the hands of one person?

Not my words. The words of the founder of Twitter and someone that has thought longer and harder about the issue than you or I combined.

They can go start their own social network. Shouldn't be a problem.

Maybe Amazon will even let them use their servers.

It was a 'hostile takeover.'

A takeover that the founder of Twitter likes.

Are there any "bad" people who are conservative in your world view?

There are 'bad' people of every stripe.
Dorsey, in my opinion, was just saving face
when he proclaimed that he,'trusted Elon,' to do the right thing.
I'm in agreement with you, in the hopes, that this deal
works out for the better of everyone.

As an offering of good will, I am going to admit that I had not thought of this possibility before now.

However, I don't think it is true. Still, this possibility should have occurred to me.

Me too. We should err on the side of freedom.

So you're going to pretend you don't know Trump admitted to lying about the severity of the pandemic to the public, or lied about not knowing of the illegally used campaign funds as hush-money payment to cover up cheating on his wife?

You're unaware of the election fraud lies Trump is pushing, despite 60 different courts (including the Supreme Court) dismissed his claims because he had no evidence? Despite his own Attorney General saying there was no evidence of widespread election fraud, or Trump's own Department of Justice saying this was the "most secure election in history"?

Let me guess, those lies still aren't big enough to make you not vote for Trump, right?

I am not pretending to know or not know anything. I am choosing to limit the extent which I'm willing to engage in RHP debates.

I picked one potential scenarios where an event might be classified as a "lie" by a hostile party as an example that many of these so called "lies" are debatable and/or forgivable. I think if we take politics out, we would all admit that someone who says they will never use a website again but changes their mind after the website drastically changes then that is not the kind of "lie" that is particularly concerning. If there is one "lie" like this, perhaps there is more like it. I kind of think I contributed something that could at least be food for thought and as far as I know not something repeatedly cut and pasted in flame wars over the last 5 years.

I made a mistake. Someone took a quick shot at Trump that was off topic and instead of ignoring it to limit my engagement in this thread I responded trying to suggest that this would ordinarily not be something we'd consider a despicable "lie" outside the scope of politics. Now we have a whole new tangent in a thread about Twitter that references a list of 30,000 so called "lies" of a person that does not own Twitter.

I've never come on here saying Trump has never lied. I am not here to argue point after point, but I'll only say that my take on some of these is different than yours. I'm not going to try to appease you by finding ways I can join you in bashing Trump, and I am not going to expend dozens of hours trying to defend Trump.

But, if you want a cut and paste argument with the same talking points there are others you can engage with that aren't looking for any intellectual stimulation and don't really care if they never post anything slightly original and never offer nor seek any new insight. I kind of think there might be some AI program where you can argue the same points over and over against a caricature of a Trump supporter. If there is not an AI program, probably some middle schooler will argue all these points with you.
