"Since the Kremlin’s Feb. 24 invasion of Ukraine, NATO has readied 140,000 troops in the region and mobilized a colossal war chest of advanced military equipment. Of the approximately 140,000 troops, the United States has provided the lion’s share with 100,000 soldiers."

@no1marauder saidRussia has pretty much annexed the entire Ukraine. That means Russia now borders four Members of NATO and has missiles in striking range. Russia has also quietly retaken Belarus, with Lukashenko now in Putin's pocket.
These idiots are going to get us into a nuclear war with such actions.
Should NATO do nothing? If Putin's annexation of Belarus was in Response to NATO expansion, shouldn't NATO be concerned about recent Russian expansion? Keep in mind Belarus borders Moldova, a former Soviet state.
It seems you're suggesting we just continue looking away from Russia because of their nukes. If so, doesn't that give Russia license to invade again, since no one wants nuclear war?
Obviously I'm not suggesting war. But to call them idiots merely for gathering to discuss this latest Russian expansion doesn't make sense.

Not from the battle maps I have seen. What is your source of information?
@no1marauder saidI agree. I should buy iodine before there is a run on it an the price goes up. Better safe than sorry.

As we speak, Russia is now attacking Kiev. Ukrainians have put up a very good fight, but just like every other city, it's only a matter of time before the capitol falls.
@vivify saidI don't believe Russia is attacking Kiev unless it is to bomb weapons there. They surround cities and deny them shipments of food and goods first. They are not foolish enough to lose soldiers in urban warfare so soon.

Russia is just surrounding the city or at least trying to. After that they can be patient as the city dwellers run low on food. They will surrender in time.

A journalist was killed after Russian shelling of Kiev.
@vivify saidProbably weapons in Kiev they are taking out. They are not going in yet unless they are trying to kill that puppet dictator of the west Zelenskyy....or maybe they are taking out news stations. NATO did that in Serbia. It is a war crime, but everybody does it anyway.

Does Russia have Kiev surrounded yet?

They're only 55 km (35 miles) from Kyiv.
@metal-brain saidOnly a matter of time.
Then they don't have it surrounded yet. They are just bombing weapon targets because they are a threat to their advance.
@vivify saidThey are sending 140,000 troops next to a combat zone "not gathering to discuss". That's completely reckless and greatly enhances the chance of war.

I don't agree with your exaggerations; Ukraine hasn't been "annexed" (nor do the Russian positions in the peace talks suggest it has any intention to) nor is Belarus part of Russia now just because they are somewhat allied ( not allied enough for Belarus to join the Ukraine war so far).
@no1marauder saida) Russia already annexed Crimea
I don't agree with your exaggerations; Ukraine hasn't been "annexed" (nor do the Russian positions in the peace talks suggest it has any intention to)
b) Only a month ago Putin denied that he was even going to invade Ukraine. We can't trust him right now.

@no1marauder saidThey do have to tip-toe gingerly, now, don't they.
These idiots are going to get us into a nuclear war with such actions.
If NATO did not want to risk nuclear war, they never should have allowed the United States
to supply NATO states Belgium, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, and Turkey with Nukes. *That* was reckless.
But that's water over the dam now.
What is NATO to do? Well, perhaps they can bargain it out with Putin, not sure. But they surely
can't stand by and watch this torment to so many innocent people.
