Isn't it frightening, how much of the public's money is spent killing other people?

I think it's frightening how easily you continually get duped by leftist front organizations, howardgee:

This is truly scary stuff:

The US govt. spends more per annum on Veterans' Disability pension ($57 billion), than it spends on all education ($54.4 billion)!

"President Bush requests $54.4 billion in discretionary appropriations for the Department of Education in fiscal year 2007, a decrease of $3.1 billion, or 5.5 percent, from the 2006 level."

"$57 billion Veterans' Disability pension"

Your leftist friends’ figures are buncombe since the feds don’t pay for public education – state and local taxes do. I'm surprised at you howardgee, cut your head in on the deal!

Not a bad idea there Jim. Yep I agree... throw those old codgers out on the streets and get those girls in Iran some safe homes. You never cease to amaze me. Jesus would be proud of you. 🙂.
I’m not surprised you find the idea of taking care of our war veterans funny, 7ate9 -- you probably find the idea of self-sacrifice, duty, honor and patriotism foreign to.

That's because the majority of American schoolchildren are now of a non-English speaking background and are getting pregnant and dropping out of the free education provided them at taxpayer expense.
Gee, please give the link providing statistics backing this claim.

Why? that would be quite out of place in this thread.

If you are saying his point was off topic, you should bitch at him. Otherwise, if he makes a claim, esp. one as ridiculous as he did, he should be able to support it.

Please stop quoting deceitful right wing propoganda.

"While battling the murderous scourge of Islamic terrorism in the Middle East, the United States simultaneously faces a most formidable foe within its own borders."
Is the opening sentence, which tells you everything about this biased, Neoconservative website.

I read the article for a laugh at how it twists the truth. For instance it criticises a left wing organisation (PSFG) for "countering America's allegedly warlike proclivities and forestalling their inevitably disastrous consequences"
ALLEGEDLY?!?!?!?! The US's warlike proclivities have been on view for the rest of the world to see since the 1960's!!
We are seeing the latest ineviatable disastrous consequence in Iraq where you are preparing to "Cut and run" as we speak.

As I have pointed out before, you are either extremely stupid, or very nasty. Please learn one way or the other.

You never mentioned 1984 until Xanthos brought it up.

Please stop pretending to be smart....it doesn't fool us.
Wasn't trying to be smart or wise after the event howie, that is the message I get from '1984' and I just assumed Xanthos was on the same track. Especially concerning the NZ public school system.

Be cool guy.

You’re right, I was mistaken. In my previous statement, please change “the majority” to “a large portion of inner-city”:

10.3% of American students do not finish highschool. That's a pretty large proportion but you've managed quite a bit of gymnastics to find any news story anywhere that said anything like what you claimed earlier. And even then you've completely changed your statement. Where did 'inner-city' come from?

Perhaps so, if it were "close reading" of your posts, but in regard to '1984' the governments control of information was a major theme, is this not the case for NZ citizens from the age of 5 until ? for about eight hours a day. How anyone could read this book and come away with the idea Orwell is calling for more control in the form of a state education system...I'm stunned...perhaps you are a victim of double speak.

Yes, you're right. During those 8 hours a day I learnt to spell the way the Government told me, to add sums in the Government approved manner and to use proper Government style cursive.
