So this is about evil is it? An human concept often utilised (in my experience) when one person wishes to condemn something without looking at the bigger picture. You're ignoring the laws of nature if you believe that people are going to happily sit there with nothing (because economy is about competition, and many, many people are simply outcompeted) whe ...[text shortened]... hy do you think people overthrow their rulers? Is taxation not a lesser evil than violence?

Poor John Nuttall should leave the United Kingdom and come to America for his medical treatment – then he'd be doing the same as Belinda Stronach (a Liberal Party member of Canada's Parliament and daughter of Canadian billionaire industrialist Frank Stronach) when she needed a cancer operation. He'd also be joining Karen and J.P. Jepp, who had to leave their home in Calgary, Alberta, for Great Falls, Montana, to give birth to their identical quadruplets because of a shortage of neonatal beds and inability to perform a C-section for multiple babies.
Despite being feted by Michael Moore, Canada's health care system, like Britain's and all other Soviet-style health care bureaucracies, are in disarray.

When faced with death, would you not steal to keep yourself or loved ones alive? Your moral values are very nice in the world you've made for yourself, but can you honestly expect someone to accept that they are dying and not keep themselves alive by any means necessary?
Now you have to ask yourself, would you rather a system where the wealth is distributed by taxation, or violence? If you can't tell the difference, then try living in Somalia for a while.

I also suspect that he could get his operation done in the US, if he paid for it, without having to quit smoking. And when his foot went gangrenous he'd have to pay for another operation to remove it. They wouldn't care, as long as he was paying.

My information is:
In USA anyone who is ill may enter public hospital (not private hospital) and they MUST be treated regardless of ability to pay.

The NHS is floundering after years of Conservative and Neo-Conservative underfunding and a crap management system. But I'd rather live in a society where good healthcare is available to all for free rather than one where excellent healthcare is available, but only for the rich.
Originally posted by RagnorakNice right? Of course it would still be the 3rd leading cause of death in the US, even if the government used taxes to pay for everyones care. Modern medicine is in need of a change... less medical care is needed not more.

Control Freaks Solution: Regulate the hell out of an industry, point finger and say it's broken, offer cure, more regulation, enforce cure.
We're seeing the word "free" being thrown around again, it's taken some time but I've at least got Amaurote trained up on this one. It's never free, instead the correct terminology is: Pay for it yourself in an around about by filtering your money through a morass of tax law or, make some one else pay by taking money off them by using the above system.
It's important to call things what they are.
