@Mott-The-Hoople saidWe were discussing whether or not schools should change the name/gender of a student on school records, you know, 'official' school records, that's why I used the term 'official', and on that I expressed opinion.
Why did you add “official”?
Do you think it is ok for school officials to hide this from parents?
Do you think it is ok to do things UN officially to further a child’s mental confusion?
Therefore what do you think schools are hiding from parents?
As I think I said in my first post, in my opinion schools exist to educate; at an appropriate age, teach kids the workings of the human reproductive system, so that they understand the mechanics, beyond that a child's sexuality should have nothing to do with schools.
@AverageJoe1 saidYeah a bottle of booze.
Ask the libs if they would like for AvJoe1 to teach ( thus indoctrinate) their children. Trick question,!! A YES would defeat all that they have ever written. A NO would mean that they would agree that the administration could NOT let them decide their gender and names..
The Forum is a difficult place for liberals. We pick them off like bottles on a fence pole.
Chalk up another for Joe. Another bottle.
@Indonesia-Phil
We all know Marauder would be excited to tell us all with links (composed who knows😂) how we need to set children free to discover themselves.
So, not one post in 6 pages?!?!?? He must figure he would find himself in a box once again!
@AverageJoe1 saidOf course all children/people should be free, so long as that freedom does not harm or do damage to others, my point is only that schools ain't the place to do it. I'm not advocating strict sexual mores, people are as they are, and only in being that which we are gives us the freedom to do the things that really matter.

@Indonesia-Phil saidSchool is, however, for most people, where they discover themselves in how they fit in and interact with their peers. This is where they develop their feelings as proto-adults. By college, this is practically cemented in. This is where their adult lives begin.

Give them the freedom to express themselves and watch them blossom.
@Suzianne saidSure, absolutely, at school we begin to learn how to do life, compare ourselves to others, and so on, and usually form our first deep friendships away from 'the family.' Formative years indeed, my point relates only to the role of teachers, whose function is in my opinion to impart knowledge, and not to advise or have influence upon a students' deeper self, or sense of themselves, which develop in other ways.

I daresay I digress, but academic achievement is one important thing, and wisdom is another, (there are plenty of well qualified idiots in the world) and the two should not be confused. Personally, I'm still working on the wisdom thing....
