@Removed-by-poster saidPointless insults aside, you raise a salient point. At this stage of an administration it isn't the job of the official opposition to make policy, but to oppose government policy where appropriate. (And you can't get much more appropriate than it is right now. ) However Democrats must be prepared to govern once the Trump debacle is finally over. In the UK, the Labour Party won a 'landslide' in the last election, mainly because everyone became disillusioned with the last (Tory) administration; they (Labour) came to government ill - prepared and without clear policy, and have made a complete dog's - breakfast of it.
You people are pathetic.
You think just running on "we hate Trump! We have no policy proposals!" will do anything?
You have to win the white house to get any real power.
All you'll get is a slight house/senate whatever majority and it's two years of losers screaming for impeachment just like last time.
Worry about 2028 with actual policy or y'all gonna lose again.
Trump is about the business of trashing the US economy, (I won't and need not go into detail, others have done that well enough) and doing untold damage to America in the eyes of the world, he doesn't have the intellect to do anything else. The Democratic Party need to be getting their act together.
@Indonesia-Phil saidWhen (not if) Democrats regain power, they must do more than just repair the damage done by Republicans. Much more. That's largely been the pattern for decades now, and the cycle must stop. It's time for action. "Socialism" is actually not a dirty word anymore, nor is "liberal." Radical change must be implemented by all legal means, at full speed. There is so much to do, and so much rot to remedy.

The billionaire class, first and foremost, must be decimated, as it is toxic to democracy and impoverishing the nation. Corporations, too, must be made to pay their fair share of taxes. This means a complete overhaul of the tax code, both for businesses and individuals. It is a no-brainer that economic inequality results in political instability, and so it must be tackled head-on.
Healthcare reform! This means a public option, at the very least, and bolstering Medicare and Medicaid. To compete against public health insurance plans, the private insurance companies will need to come down from their high horse and actually deliver high-quality, affordable plans to ordinary people. The companies that fail to do this should die.
Reining in social media and AI, and putting both under tight regulation, should also be a priority.
Gun control at long last, if only to roll back the laws to where they were 50 or 60 years ago.
The shameful federal minimum wage, pegged currently at a laughable $7.25 per hour, should be increased to at least $15 over the course of a few years. Most state minimum wages are higher than the federal minimum anyway, so this is hardly controversial.
The list goes on, but I think I've gotten the idea across.
@sonhouse saidI don’t really have a direct channel to the fat fvcking umpa lumpa.
We know that but can you tell that to Trump? He seems to think he OWNS SCOTUS, and congress AND DOJ AND FBI AND CIA, all going after his political enemy list, Comey arrested, sitting CONGRESS folks arrested.
100% from the Authoritarian playbook.
That being said, he’s a narcissist, he doesn’t hear criticism.
@shavixmir saidPsychologists say he is not JUST narcissist but MALIGNANT Narcissist, much darker analysis.

@shavixmir saidThere's a movie in that. Or for the very least a Netflix series!
semi-king of the orange dolls.
@Indonesia-Phil saidThe Democrats should have started getting their act together the day the Electoral College awarded Trump the WH despite Hillary's having taken the popular vote. Democrats been sleepwalking for the last 10 years!

@Soothfast saidAn admirable to-do list. I would only add done more item: the DoJ needs urgent reform. First, to make it much more independent of the Executive in particular and of the executive branch in general. It should no longer even be possible for the president to simply hire and fire whomever he pleases, from federal prosecutors to judges. These positions should be a-political and utterly separated from any all all executive interference. It should no longer be possible for a president to quash FBI investigations, or to instigate them.

The court system failed miserably to bring charges against Trump which would stick. Trump has gamed the system for years, and this must stop. Delays and prevarications should be eliminated from the system. Trump gamed the system by accusing his prosecutor of irregularities which had nothing to do with the charges against Trump himself--this must stop.
And finally, it should no longer be possible to appeal any decision simply because one party doesn't like the verdict. There should clear and rigid procedures specifying conditions under which an appeal may be filed--for procedural irregularities--and not waste years in futile litigation over whether litigation can proceed.
@moonbus saidTrump still has legal problems because some of the charges are state charges and Trump cannot pardon state convictions, only federal convictions.

And that makes him dangerous because it reinforces his plan to become a literal dictator if he can stop elections, that is the only way Trump stays out of prison after '28 if elections put dems in office, and takes over house and senate, you can be sure all the state charges that have not gone away will come back to bite his orange ass BIGLY.
That to me is a huge motivation for Trump tear down the country to the ground before he would ever let anyone charge him and bring him to court again.
So this fight by Trump to stop the REAL Epstein files from being released, the last THREE million files gummint thinks they have the right to NEVER release to the public.
That is fight #2. Fight #1 is his all encompassing obsession of staying out of jail.
So we will see if he can stop both.
@sonhouse saidYes, it is obvious that Trump is prepared to burn down democracy and plunge the world's economies into chaos, rather than face the music for his pre-presidential crimes.

When he is all washed up and defrocked, those who supported him will deny that they ever supported him.
