Spoken like a true ill-informed conservative.
Stop making up lies to tell.
Would you like to explain why? I didn't think so.

How many candidates do you think there are, saying to themselves, "Oh, God, Wyoming's big THREE electoral votes means I need to get out there."

The electoral system means that when the Republican vote there gets to 51%, ALL the Democrat votes cast there are useless. Those people are having their political will ignored. Great system, if you're a Republican.

@AverageJoe1 the electoral college should go. Gerrymandering needs to go. Restrictive voting laws that aim to make it more difficult for non whites to vote need to go.
You are being, to quote a Suzianne word, in a Suzianne set of circumstances, racial.
And you disparage the various cultures of which you speak, that, they are too stupid or too irresponsible to get a free ID card and go to extremely-convenient voting places??
You smack of racism. It just ruins threads.

You thus say, in this hypo, that the Dem votes are useless? Then you are saying that the minority (that would be the remaining group of 49% would have no voice. Do you see your conflict now?
If the Repubs take control of House in '22, would you not like for the dems to still have a say in legislation, or should they just not show up, since repubs would have all the voice??
Can you not comment on this clearly. It is an honest question.

Sonhouse likes to give his personal opinions about things as well, I wasn't there, so don't know if your opinion is a fact.
But your post begs the question.....So you think, as does Suzianne, that the Electoral College should be replaced with the majority of votes? Period? Keep in mind Wyoming is a state of 500,000 people, CA is a state of over 80M. Imagine the go ...[text shortened]... o live at the behest of a not-so-earthy group in CA.
So, Phranny..... No more electoral college?
Good earthy people ??
Not so earthy people ??

What exactly are good earthy people ??
Hilarious !! 😆😆😆😆

Are you claiming nobody running for POTUS campaigns in Wyoming? Yes or no?

I have to wonder how quickly your viewpoint would flip if California became a red state.
Hmmm ?? 🤔

Is that you MG. You characters can sure get picky, and all into word definitions, which you change at the drop of a hat.
I looked up synonyms for Earthy, since you didn't get my reference. There are 33 of them. Guess what ....My favorite of them all,,,,Unidealistic. You see, you libs live-and-breathe idealistic. I cannot believe you can be proud of that.
So, yes, let us say CA residents are idealistic, and WY, they are realistic. So in a pinch, which you rather have 'watching your back'?
Right . WY citizens. So, I will check this joust off as a win for AvJoe. Let's spar with another word definition.

@AverageJoe1
Did you say hilarious? How so? Suzianne, what does he mean??

Yeah, sure. Chalk it up as a win.
And give yourself a victory lap.
After you pick yourself up from your latest faceplant. 😛

And so your point is ......
Stop pretending we have a democracy and go straight to authoritarianism ??
That's what you're getting at, right ??

And then what ??
We hitch our wagons to an authoritarian leader who turns out to be a big mistake.
With no means of correcting that mistake.
Is that it ??
Please enlighten us.
The point is that while we're pretending to have a democracy we're already under authoritarianism of the worst kind where even arresting and incarcerating citizens for victimless infractions has become a for-profit business, which is as bad if not worse than for-profit health care with no independent oversight. Furthermore most of our citizens work for corporations to survive, and corporations are pure dictatorships ... you do what you're told or you're fired. And workers don't even get to share its profits.

And what can be done?
First you need an honest election process instead of this 2-party circus show that's totally rigged and influenced by big money.
Second, you need independent news media free of conflicts of interest that's actually allowed to report every side of an issue instead of this one-sided propaganda coming from the very same sources that own the news.
And third, you need a rock-solid constitution that's based on justice, logic and the laws of nature, not the laws of greedy sociopaths. This constitution should clearly spell out basic human rights, ban certain conflicts of interest, and prevent corruption of certain key industries, such as communications, electric power, medicine or food.

Well written. Thank you. The decimation of unions in the USA has vastly increased the power of corporations. Racism and the strong belief in individualism also makes it difficult for the USA to truly be a representative democracy. There is a large minority, maybe even a majority, who believe that if you are in need, it's your own fault. You made bad choices. You didn't provide yourself with a financial cushion. You must be lazy. The idea that bad things can happen to good, hard working people and we need a government that can help and protect citizens is not a part of USA culture, despite the continual shouting about being Christian.

Would not change viewpoint. Because we have to have an electoral college to avoid mob rule, no matter what states are what. You must have missed the point. Funny that you suggest that some factor such as CA being a red state would justify changing to mob rule. Huh!?!?

There are over 300 million people in the USA Joe its not about WY versus CA. Do you think a small state like WY should have the clout it has at a federal level?
The answer is obvious strengthen the autonomy of individual states and scrap the electoral college
