it's no doubt what situation is preferrable for the public. We have on one hand breakthroughs like the polio vaccine and on the other hand little modifications to various insuline drugs so they can be repatented. Or taking billionaires into space.

Definitely not the same. My intent was to accentuate the dire situation we are in ("the future is Cyberpunk" is not a good thing, was fishing to see who else is a fan of the genre)
I really thought we'd have some sort of space colony or at least flying cars well before the computers started plotting to systematically rot the brains of the life forms that built them.

You know, like technology that does cool stuff or enables cool experiences, not the technology that destroys stuff or enables mankind's downfall.

We stopped investing in the science that will create new knowledge and future cures for diseases.

We allowed our governments to spend beyond its means for decades, generating tens of trillions in public debt that cannot be paid off in our lifetimes.

We ignored the obvious warnings of climate change that will necessitate future generations to make infrastructure invest ...[text shortened]... ave a poorer quality of life than we had. They will pay our debts, and they will resent us for that.

Take it easy…those libs don’t have any of the joys of life to look forward to

I have four grandkids 🥰

I won't congratulate you just yet...

The point is that we have quite a few difficult questions to address as a generation to explain why we, as a country, as a society, whatever, decided to invest in our current selves instead of our future.

Poor kid! I'll pray for him. Either way, congrats 🙂 I have 11 so far. 🙂

We'll take all the prayers we can get, but he will still be Jewish when all is said and done, so there's a limit to what you can do. 😛

I dunno. We live more in a family society than a collectivist society. The first people any child looks to is his/her parents and family.

I'm perfectly comfortable that my grandchildren will be satisfied that their family and communities have done their parts to foster the best possible environment under the circumstances.

If adjusted GDP per capita or purchasing power parity is slightly down from 1999 or if Yellowknife houses are becoming unstable because we're melting the permafrost, I don't know if that's going to be my grandchildren's obsession to whine about.

My children are (hopefully) not planning to raise a new Greta Thunberg.

I can't "do anything"; however, God can. 😉

God Bless. 🙂

? Is not investment in ourselves an investment in the future of this country? Do you want us to invest into something else? What would you suggest that we invest in rather than ourselves.?
You can imagine, I hope, ,how I would absolutely love a straight answer on this one. The answer would have to say you did not really mean that we should not invest in ourselves. So bring it please..
If you ignore this gotcha question, can you at least tell us how we get to your supposed future.
And moreso, your interpretation of the old slogan, a rising tired raises all ships. Just what would be the tide.????
What would be the tide, Wildgrass?

All publicly-held debt is immoral, unless temporarily imposed to deal with an emergency with a clear plan to pay it back.

Annually, the interest on US debt is $1.1 trillion. So, imagine a scenario where we didn't have to pay that bill but instead everyone pays less taxes.

Public debt is bad, very bad, and anyone who has brainwashed you to think otherwise should be arrested just like that lady who picked up a paint chip at the reflecting pool.
Hmmmmm so tell us, who will decide when something is an emergency or not? I say that because you liberals say that someone who runs out of money has an emergency. That emergency is only unto themselves. To you, we are all in the same family, we are brothers says Suzanne, so you think we should all shoulder this person‘s financial problem. The big picture is the same… The big picture is to Tax all of the billionaires with the wealth tax.
Follow me here. Some man has an emergency by running out of Money. New York City has an emergency by running out of money. Do you want the governmentto bail out the individual, and you want billionaires to bail out New York City.
Do you not see the logic and the common sense here. This is why I mentioned logic and common sense so much. Tell me one liberal on this forum who has logic in common sense.

Just to let you know smaller than average joe boy, our country is in DEBT over 30 trillion; and, that is because of all the billionaires and their greed with their 'special interest' groups; bribing our politicians into bankrupting the USA and it's people; and then walking away with everything that they just stole from us as billionaires.

So yes, you're correct! US being in debt 30+ Trillion is on US! And, it is up to US to do something about it! Which we are. 🙂 It's only "logic and common sense" little feller. 😆

The only thing you just said of note//////. "it is up to US to do something about it". Yes,Congress. has to figure that out.
(Oh, it is not up to a 'select few' to do something about it, by which I mean the successful people in this country. Remember some Americans worked harder than others. You want to punish them,,,,,KingGeorge wants a free ride? Do you want to chip in or just 'let someone else do it'?)

I agree little feller, government subsidy checks for the ultra wealthy corporations and Billionaires (welfare checks), should not be; "no free rides" I say. 🙂 Agreed! 🙂

No help for the farmers either; they voted for it. We need to give them what they voted for, and wished for. 🙂

I love the way you know what you’re talking about. You know the billionaires don’t just sit back and watch Money roll in. I wonder what the impetus of government would be?
