I few times I've met pervs on the net. Anyone who has met one can telly uo they're rude and nasty. But my question is who the heck raises their kids this way? I mean, why would anyone let theur kid become a perv? Obivously kids aren't born perverted. Something has to inlfuence how they grow up. And chances are parents control what influences them. So why do parents expose their kids to this stuff?

You need to define a perv. Do you mean a peadefile?

Well, what exactly are the choices? The parents could employ someone full time to watch over the kids while they are on the internet.

Sounds a bit extreme though, it can hardly be avoided. There are some sick people out there.

Someone who practices sexual perversion. Look it up at dictionary.com.

I started playing chess on yahoo. My game conversations ussually went like this : are you a boy or girl, where ya from, do you have a bf, what are you doing tonight, are you pretty, can i call you? Just your average making conversation chat I guess. Needless to say I don't play on yahoo chess anymore.

Well for one I know my friend ****s parents encourage him to watch porn. Hes like the biggest friggin perv in the world. He knows more about a womans body then I do! And I'm not even sure he's a virgin. Why would anyone raise their kids that way?

I agree, but one should be careful about passing judgement like that. Calling him (I assume he's your age or close) a 'perv' puts hims in the same category as, say, pedophiles and voyeurs. I'd be skeptical of most arguments that say a 13-year-old watching porn is as reprehensible as those other examples, although his parents are a bit worrying.

Thats just the tip of the ice berg from what my friends and I have been asked!
Are you a virgin?
What town do you live in?
Whats your bra size?
Whats the color of you underwear?
Do you wear thongs?
and the list goes on!

Sorry, did not realise this would be a serious thread. I think there is a fine line in how parents expose their children to sexuality. How old is this young man? More importantly, how mature is he? Does he use his sexual knowledge to make crude jokes?

Encouraging your child to watch porn seems a bit extreem. However, I could envision myself watching a pornographic movie with my son at some point in his maturation...if for no other reason than to try to make him comfortable with both his sexuality and talking freely about sex with his father. One of the biggest problems we have in this country (USA) concerning sexuality is the taboo we place on it. Young people have a tendency to simply assume it is wrong/bad and rather than asking for good information from trusted sources they gain knowledge from speculation and rumor. Not healthy...

Hes a perv. Believe me. He says the weirdest stuff behind the girls in our classes backs. (You can guess what he says). But hes not a threat. He would never hurt anyone. I think theres a difference between a perv and a pedophile.

Its okay.
Anyways, hes 14. Hes not really mature at all. My little sister is more responsible than him. And yes he uses his knowledge to make rude jokes about women and sex. I've talked to him about it several times and asked him to stop and he says he only copies what his uncle says! The adults are the immature ones here.
And even I can see someone letting their kid watch porn so they can be more open about it. But this really isn't helping him. Its just hurting him.

If that is the case, that's fine, but I'd discourage using the word 'perv' in that sense because a lot of people think of very dodgy people when the word 'perv(ert)' is used. I'm not a girl, but from watching my friends, I'd say that people like your acquaintance are best called 'sketchy' and politely disdained unless they do something truly 'pervish'.

Good thread. I'd say your friend's parents are interfering with his development by associating women with internet porn, for example.
