President Vladimir Putin used some of his most direct language to date on Tuesday in his escalating standoff with the U.S. and its European allies. The Russian leader warned that if the U.S. and NATO do not halt what Moscow considers aggressive actions along the country's border with Ukraine, Russia would respond in a "retaliatory military" manner.
@vivify saidRussia is in no position to start a war, and Putin knows it.

The USA is not going to put troops into a real war.
They only attack countries with no armies like the Middle East.
The USA is also not going to let anything escalate into a nuclear war because everyone loses.
So...basically the USA and nato are bluffing and hope Putin doesn't do anything.
Look at it this way...
If Russia and China had forces on the American border what would American politicians be saying?
Well...Russia doesn't want nato on his border and its understandable.
@averagejoe1 saidWhy not? He has before. I think 🤔
Putin will not invade.
The woke USA army doesn't scare anyone.
If it escalated into nuclear war then everyone and everything dies.
Putin holds all the cards he just has to lay them out.
@mott-the-hoople saidFor the record, his reason for not invading has nothing to do with our president with a little stick. Its a global thing.
yes he will
@vivify
Why don't you and your sons go over to Russia and tell those war-mongering Russians that only the USA has the right to have a military presence on Russian borders, not Russians.
If that don't scare them, tell them that you will incinerate a bunch of their children with remote drones if they don't obey.
Go ahead, show them how tough and righteous you are.
It’s a wobbly situation, at best.
Whatever makes the lot of you think that poking the bear is a great idea, is beyond me.
Russia wants her satellite states.
Ukraine isn’t EU and as with the Crimea, Russia doesn’t care about military intervention by the West.
What’s holding them back is the oligarchs weighing up what sort of financial damage can be done to them.
@bunnyknight saidYou realize Russia invaded Ukraine and took over the southern part of the country, right? Are you saying just let Russia annex whatever country they want? Or were you even aware that happened?

Be more informed before spouting off clearly ignorant opinions.
@shavixmir saidOh Lord, we would have our hands full in the US, and I'm afraid Shav will be calling us for help if he is close enough to hear the bombs in Ukraine, only about 2000 miles.

Surely other countries won't call on us for help. Denmarkians,lNetherlanders, Belgium are even closer. Guess we need to build up our military.
