Phranny.....We are all on a cruise ship, 1000 people, it crashes on a desolate island. Biden and Trump are on board. We have to elect someone to pull it all together, whip us all into shape to weather the hardships before us.
We need to elect one of them. Today, before nightfall. Who do you like?
@moonbus saidYeah, aside from the times when he folded to Trump to get a bit of political power.
Ben Sasse, Rep. Senator from Nebraska, talks a lot of sense.
or when he opposed providing assistance to people affected by covid.
https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/congress-trump-score/ben-sasse/
This is the state of conservatism in the US.
Ben Sasse is considered reasonable. George Bush Jr, a war criminal, is considered reasonable and gets invited on Ellen or whatever morning show. Look he paints, isn't he adorable? Liz Cheney, who voted with Trump on like 90% of bills, daughter of a war criminal - reasonable. Mitt Romney. John McCain, horrible voting record, reasonable.
when the bar is set low, it's no effort passing it.
@averagejoe1 saidTrump would get a leaky rowboat and a compass.

@no1marauder saidand yet it makes complete sense when you connect the dots...
Joe Shmo's last forum post was:
"Na, this won't ever go away. It was released ( at least in part I believe ) to kill the elderly every year and decrease the draw on Medicaid, and SS. It has a long way to go until the surplus population is substantially reduced."
No "conspiracy theories"?

@joe-shmo
Back to the thread issue,.... would a staunch conservative be on the lower, or the upper tier? We know that the premise is not about their political views, but rather, how they present their views, which is a fair comparison for sure.
But on the other hand, if a disciple of Marxism berates that conservative for wanting to keep his own stuff and put up a wall to keep people from bothering him, does Marx guy deserve to be on the same tier, or an upper tier, above him? Should he not be on a lower tier, while the conservative guy just wants to be left alone? Should the conservative get a higher tier for minding his own business, while the Marx guy gets a lower tier for stalking and driving the producer/conservative crazy?
@averagejoe1 saidI wouldn't classify myself as a staunch conservative, so perhaps some of my past posting alluded vivify to that fact and I was placed in what I believe to be ( as you state ) "moderate" category. The thing is...I think most of Trumps base had my mindset, which I believe ( correct me if I'm wrong) vivify would consider "conservative extremism". I'm not a religious fundamentalist , so it is all rather confusing. Anyhow, I'm back where I belong with the troglodytes after indulging in more of my "conspiratorial " theories.....bummer

@joe-shmo saidI didn’t consider myself staunch before all of this new world has descended upon us, we are truly fighting for our lives. Even the shrieking Eliz Warren is back, punishingthe successful. Yeah, I’m pretty staunch.

I wonder if anyone’s dad was successful? Any comments on his take aboutEliz?
@joe-shmo saidI didn't base the ranking on how far to the right anyone was, I made it purely on the quality of posts. Whether I disagree with you or not, or how much I disagree was irrelevant; if your posts come across as intelligent and thought out, you get ranked higher up the list.

For example; Whodey wasn't placed where he was due to how conservative he was or how much he supported Trump. βThat guy posted links from so many hoax sites it was ridiculous. He once posted a thread accusing Hillary Clinton of killing an FBI agent by burning down his house; this was false, and the article he used wasn't even from a real news source.
I don't care how conservative you are, just have informed, logical opinions.
Oh, and don't be racist.
@vivify saidEverybody indulges in conspiracy theories.
Not all conservatives are the same (thank god) and some are worse than others.
In terms of Debates:
The bottom tier - Those conservatives who add nothing of substance whatsoever; those who just make derisive comments. They don't engage in debates, they just troll and leave. These could include posters like R to D2. There's actually been a lot posters like this, bu ...[text shortened]... rmal, intelligent debate. Sh76, Joe Shmo....Philokalia could be in this list if not for the racism.
Leftists believe the Russiagate conspiracy theory.
Right wingers believe the conspiracy theory that Trump put forth about election rigging.
Most black people believed the conspiracy theory Johnny Cochran put forth to get OJ off from murdering his wife and lover.
That is just about everyone.
@vivify saidI miss whodey. Yeah, he bought into every pizzagate-like conspiracy that was posted on some right wing blog, but he had two of the greatest lines ever on this forum.

After Sam/Fishy/Dood bragged that he was a substitute teacher for a day and he just sat at his desk and did crossword puzzles all day while the kids ran wild, whodey quipped something like "You can deviate from the common core if you'd like."
Then, when a story was posted about some guy in Montana getting in trouble for shooting a bear that was stalking his house and threatening his family, whodey suggested that he should have planted paw prints on the gun before the cops showed up.
Still 2 of the best lines ever on this forum.
@vivify saidI guess if we’re segregating people into tiers we may as well use animal names:

Bottom tier - leeches
Lower tier - monkeys
Mid tier - donkeys
High tier - wolves
Personally, I have absolutely no problem with wolves and leeches. Leeches you meet everywhere. They’re annoying, can be amusing and their irritation is generally short lived.
I have no problem with wolves. Oh, I totally disagree with them politically and economically. But that is fine. It spices up life, not everybody has to agree on everything and it reminds me of proper debates when I was younger.
But the donkeys and monkeys… they really irritate me. The irrationality of it all. And both these groups are dominantly American, loud mouthed, uneducated, attempt to sound informed (and fail miserably), they’re in every thread and constantly leave the forum smelling like a trailer park.
One thing all four groups have in common is a lack of a sense of humor / creativity. Which leads me to presume that they’re also protestant Christians.
@sh76 saidI liked his sense of humor too. What happened to him? Why doesn't he post on here anymore?

I sometimes wonder what happened to Normbenign. He hasn't been on here in a long time. I wonder if he passed away or something. If not I'd like to see him post something so I know he is not.
