-Removed-Cops were called because domestic abuser Jacob Blake was doing what domestic abusers do. Cops show up and he fights with cops and gets shot by cops as he tries to climb into a vehicle full of kids with a knife. The cops are white and Jacob Blake isn't so, you know, several nights of rioting, looting, and burning ensue and the cops and other leaders in the city, cowed by their fear of being called racists, more or less just let it continue.
On one of these nights armed citizens start showing up to stand in front of businesses to keep them from being burned. Kyle Rittenhouse, a naive but civic minded 17 year old lifeguard/medic/cop wannabe (with an unwise mother) from a neighboring town just across the state line, is among them. Like many there Kyle is armed with a SEMI-automatic rifle (automatic weapons are not legal to carry or own for most people). He goes around offering medical aid to whoever wants it, makes grandiose claims about being an EMT, puts out fires, and generally gets under the skin of the thugs who are there to burn and loot things. Kyle and others are at one point threatened by Joe Rosenbaum ( a mentally ill child rapist), that if he catches any of them alone that night he will kill them.
Good ol child rapist Joe and some other thugs, at least one brandishing a semi-automatic pistol, do catch up to Kyle while he's alone and ambush him. Kyle runs, and at least one of the thugs fires a gun while Kyle is running wasy from them. But Joe, apparently adept at chasing minors, catches up to Kyle shouting F*** you and trying to grab Kyle's rifle. Kyle shoots and kills him, poor guy.
Kyle is then chased by a mob as he tries to get back to where the police are a few blocks away. He is hit in the head with a rock, he is smashed in the head by a large skateboard being swung like a bat, he falls, and while on the ground gets kicked in the head, fires two shots at the guy but those shots miss and go up in the air missing the lucky known criminal who kicked him. Still on the ground, Kyle is then smashed by skateboard guy again, and then skateboard guy (another known domestic abuser) tries to grab the rifle by the dangerous end (genius) and pull it away. Kyle shoots him once and he falls over dead, poor guy. Then a third guy runs up with a drawn semi-auto pistol (that he has been carrying concealed illegally) pointed at Kyle's head. Kyle shoots him in the gun wielding arm turning his bicep into a red mist that wafts down the Kenosha street as he screams and cries, poor guy.
Kyle finally makes it to the police and tries to turn himself in, but they just tell him to back up or he'll be pepper sprayed. He can't turn himself in to the Kenosha police dept because it's all barricaded, so he rejoins his people, goes home, and soon after turns himself in at a different police station, driven there with his mom.
The press spends the next few month turning Kyle into a white supremacist vigilante, and turning the child rapists, thugs and criminals who attacked Kyle into heroic victims. They are aghast that this kid was even there in the first place, naively putting out the fires the thugs were starting.
Luckily for Kyle the riots (going on all over the country) were being well documented by streaming YouTubers, who quickly gathered and analyzed all the footage on their various YouTube channels. It was clear within hours that it was a clear cut case of self defense, and the kid should have never been charged, but that's not how we roll in America anymore. The prosecution tried a bunch of questionable hi-jinx trying to get a conviction, but luckily the jurors believed their own eyes instead of the lies of the media and prosecutors.

It was all there, being analyzed by many, even some lawyers if I recall, on YouTube. Kyle never shot at or harmed one person who wasn't attacking him. But they charged him anyway even though it was clear he was just defending himself.
