In the most significant criticism by a U.S. leader against the Israeli government since its war with Hamas began, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer on Thursday called for new elections in Israel to replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Schumer, the highest-ranking Jewish official in the U.S. ever, said in remarks on the Senate floor that “the Netanyahu coalition no longer fits the needs of Israel after Oct. 7.”
This conflict is looking less like a legitimate effort to insure Israel's security, and more like a deliberate effort to prolong this war in order for Netanyahu to remain in power. It worked for "W" in 2004, but will it work for Netanyahu today? We'll see.

@mchill saidThis might come as a bit of a surprise to people like you and many others who mistakenly believe that the US is in control of Israel, and are able to dictate to Israel what they should or should not do. The truth is that Israel is a law unto themselves and they alone decide what path they should follow. The US govt has no say.

You would hear the ignorant anti-semites proclaim that the US funds Israels security, when the truth is that the US gives Israel $3B in defense aid, while Israels defense budget is $24B. Thats 12.5%. That hardly buys control of Israels decision making.
So Senator Schumer can find something better to do.
@Rajk999
The US DOES have a say in Israel, for instance, I myself spend most of the 1990's there working as contractor for Intel Jerusalem, ATT the biggest money maker in Israel, if you didn't know, Intel is an AMERICAN company and money talks and we DO have a club to whack at Naten YAHOO, we can threaten our aid if he doesn't do at least a cease fire.
I saw up close and personal what the Israeli government did and is doing to the Palestinians, we had good friends on both sides the tweed. It was really unconscionable what they did to the Jordan river water for instance, leaving the Palestinians with water unfit to wash your feet much less grow crops and the US sponsored a 100 million dollar Red Sea desalination plant to give them at least SOME clean water. Also it is disgusting the way the Israeli government allows settlers to just rip apart olive oil fields owned by Palestinians and put up thousands of apartment buildings. But we had close friends on both sides of the border in spite of all that.
@sonhouse saidBack in the 90s over 30 years ago? I guess things have changed. Here is a list of the 17 largest companies in Israel and ATT is not on the list.

@shavixmir saidUS largest grants. I dont think that buys the US anything
Billions of US dollars a year to support Israel makes the US a rather important investor in Israel.
Ukraine ($16.4 billion)
Israel ($3.3 billion)
Ethiopia ($1.95 billion)
Jordan ($1.65 billion)
Egypt ($1.43 billion)
Afghanistan ($1.19 billion)
Somalia ($1.13 billion)
Yemen ($1.05 billion)
Congo ($987 million)
Syria ($896 million)

That's been such a winning strategy in the past.
@mchill saidA useless corrupt US senator has decided that Israel needs a new leader? Hmmmm Since when did the US decide other nations leaders??? Oh yes.. always. He just said the quiet part out loud. Many, many , many countries over the years. Ukraine as of recent maybe?

@boonon
He is a lot better than that useless and corrupt ex POTUS, your god king Trump. He is as corrupt as it is possible to get. He would have been best buddies with Spiro Agnew who literally took cash in brown bags right inside the whitehouse. Trump gets his money from screwing everyone he touches like his lawyers and architects.
Three convictions SO FAR for just fraud, maybe you remember the Trump so called university and Trump so called Charity, he paid 25 million for those frauds but finally got caught red handed by forensic accountants and now owes near a half billion to NY, yep, just another witch hunt.
@sonhouse saidWTH is an olive oil field ? 😂

@boonon saidUhhhh, how would the libs feel if the Israelis were telling us to have new elections, etc. Schumer can tell them how to run their country, and libs are cool with it???.

All of our lib posters are simply naive, and never see the big picture. Some moreso than others.
@averagejoe1 saidYeah… it’s the libs who don’t see the bigger picture.

Really? Netenyahoo has basically announced the ethnic cleansing of Gaza using US financial support for their weapons, the US profits from stability in the region (which is all Arab), China and Russia are cosying up to the Arab states and you can’t comprehend the US government being critical of Israel.
And the libs don’t see the bigger picture?
Thanks for your retarded input.

Well done him for putting his humanity before his political career, if only Netanyahu and the leaders of Hamas would follow his example.
