Your character will need a super power, of course--that's how things work in anime. The character, however, does not know that he has a super power until halfway through vol.2, until then he is despised for being ordinary, but the super power erupts in a dazzling display of heroic rage when he turns a hitherto invincible monster into lemon meringue. He still doesn't get the girl though--not until vol.12. Got all that? It's only an outline; details are up to you, go for it.
