I agree.

If you're going to hunt though its important to have respect for not just the animal, but, the environment, etc.... Most hunters and those that fish, make considerable donations to the presevation of land and the environment. Considerable revenue from hunting licenses goes towards protected land, parks and fish & wildlife habitats.
Hunters can be envirnmentalists. I live in a couuntry where hunting is essential - deer were intrcoduced but not predators.

Open season - and you can use a helicopter if you reallly want to.

My humble opinion of the last decade or so, still has not changed.
Don't ban hunting...expand it.

With that I mean allow hunting and allow the hunting of the hunters. Up the stakes. See how much they enjoy it then.

i think hunting sucks
so i won't go hunting
also, i won't be impressed if someone tells me they like hunting

but i wouldn't actually make it illegal - best to save that for things the morals of which intelligent people can't disagree about.

So what do you think about the ban on fox hunting in Britan...?

Personally its not something I'd do, but to actually make it illegal because the good people of London think its wrong?!?!?!?

Do they eat the fox? Or is it just a fancy get together to kill something?

Has anyone here watched "Animal Cops" on the Discovery Channel?
It's amazing to see these pseudo-cops from the SPCA rescue some badly abused animal (almost always a dog, cat, or horse), rush it to the vet, arrest the owner, take him/her to court, and have him/her locked up. We're all supposed to get misty-eyed and curse the screen when the evil former-owner comes into view. It's really great television to watch when you're choking down a double cheeseburger with bacon and a side of chicken nuggets. 🙂

No, you can't eat fox.

If God didn't want you to eat them, why would he make animals out of meat? Well, somebody said that just to be funny. I was listening to two people arguing over hunting. The hunter said, it's ok to kill animals as long as you use them for food. The other guy said, then it's ok for me to kill you as long as I eat you. I thought that was funny too.

What part of idaho?

I've lived for short periods (less than 3 years in each) in Athol, (near Couer d' Alene), Lewiston, Clarkston, and Spokane; but I lived in Elk City, ID, for about 11 years.

Edit: If a wolf attacks lifestock, then unfortunately the wolf must be put down. In my opinion, this should be done either by Fish & Game or maybe by contracted citizens like your describing.
I lived in Moscow for four years, and I've been to Elk City, Athol, Coeur d' Alene, Plummer, and all the towns in between.

im not saying you should ban the hunting that is needed to decrease livestock, im talking about the rich tourists that come to places like south africa that pay huge amounts of money to kill endangered species like a rhino e.c.t just so he can go back home and stick his rhino head in his livingroom, poor farmers will accept money from these people,
cause there not making any money what so ever, and are leading these por animals to unreasonable, unatural death! it really isnt right, something must be done about this!!! and im talking world wide, its happening, goverment is just to blind to see it!!!

Those hunters are rich because they have to pay heavily to shoot the rhino or whatever. And they can shoot it because it does not live in a National Park - it lives on tribal land. And the money from the hunting goes to local people who have a strong incentive to continue to have wild animals on their land.

Take away the hunt and the rhinos will be replaced with cattle. The threat to wildlife is not hunting - it is the expansiion of agriculture.

Steerpike is right . But it's not just Africa . Talk to a farmer in Wisconsin , Illinios , or Iowa and ask him how much crop damage/loss there is from deer . One Wisconsin farmer , a Mennonite , told me his yeilds were down to a third of his maximum in that plot due to deer . To ban hunting and allow deer to ravage crops unchecked would have us all staving . It only makes sense to manage them , use them as food doing so .
I personally take the attitude that if I'm not going to eat it , I'm not going to hunt it . But I don't judge others for their hunting decisions so long as the prey is quickly killed .
PS - For you who deplore "trophy hunting" . (Again , I can only address North American species .) The deer or elk with the largest antlers is concerned about only one thing in the fall , that is passing on his genes . He will sometimes completely stop eating just to persue does/cows to breed with , and challengers to fight off . He can lose 25% of his body wieght during a tough rutting season , this just prior to the onset of winter . Ironicly the "trophies" are often times the first animals to starve , freeze , or die of injuries recieved fighting their own kind . This is one reason why hunts are scheduled in the autumn , right after rut but just before the onset of winter . If you think allowing a deer to starve or killed by cyotes or dogs is more humane than shooting it you're joking .

Absolutely. The damned lion had no right to kill that poor "carcus".

I'm glad they got it! Damned lion. What gives it the right to kill and eat an innocent thing like a 'carcus'?

The poor carcus herds wander the plains in peace and contemplation and along comes a lion and kills. Kills! Without mercy. Well, I say that what's good for the killed is good for the killer! Kill! Destroy! I say!

<svw's wife reads the post over his left shoulder>

"What? Eh? Speak up dear?"... he says..

"Really? Uh huh. Ok. Yea. --- " he says to her.

"Are you sure?" he asks.

Nevermind. I was just notified that just because we are the dominant species on the planet doesn't mean that we can actually be the dominant species, even though we really can. We are supposed to not take advantage of our dominant standing by showing mercy and compassion.

<svw wanders into a corner and ponders the futility of being the biggest and baddest monkeys on the planet when all it does is give us a big, fat headache because of all the thought required.>
