" it seems the conservatives want to take regulation to a whole other level,"

LOL...nice try

conservatives want education to be the way it has been since the beginning.
Its you libs wanting to take it to another level
How was education in the beginning ?
Where do you place the beginning ?
Do you mean having the Lord's prayer in the classroom.
Punishing teachers who dared to teach Darwin ?
Stuff like that ?

When libs know the answers to their own questions, all that they have left is to write stuff like this to pretend that there are other, better, answers!!! One time, back in 1986, some guy on the forum actually answered a question straight, admitting that he who predicated the sentence had him stumped. Dead to rights, we call it in the West.

Since the beginning ................................... of what?

Teachers wore bodycams "in the beginning"?
No no no,Maruader, you didn't read. He was talking about what was being taught, not about the gingham dresses worn by the hair-bun (Sorry libs if you were offended with my use of your decorative haircut) teachers.

* do y'all get regular haircuts any more? Just curious.

I know it's a bit "out of the box" for people used to being told what to think but why not?

How come you "limited government" types are all bent out of shape by the idea of repealing compulsory education laws?
Who brought up repealing compulsory education laws, and what is the def of compulsory education laws? You mean reading writing an arithmetic ? Civics? Government?

What was being taught, esp. about American History was almost total, unadulterated BS until university.

For security, sure.

Not to monitor every word teachers use in order to make sure they don't teach facts right wingers might object to.
Forum Alert: Marauder has absolutely no problem with our 9-yr olds learning (?) what you will hear about tomorrow on Newsmax. He is fine with it. By God, you will KNOW about slavery and it will help you to be a success...By God!!!

(Pssst, hey Konica and D'Quazian, don't listen. I can show you other ways to be a success. Uh, you Would like to be successful, wouldn't you ??)

Jesus, do you know ANYTHING at all? The discussion got into the quality of education with various opinions on what was wrong with it. I brought up compulsory education laws because I think forcing children to be where they don't want to be isn't a very effective way of motivating them to learn.

Here's a link, since your education seems to have been sooooooooooooo deficient: https://www.findlaw.com/education/education-options/compulsory-education.html

Golly, who knew.... And yet we all have done wonderful things and built this great country to be the greatest in the world (google it), and even the most popular!!! I am sure China is a close second, must be their curriculum.

Kids know there was slavery in the US long before they reach the age of 9 and will continue to do so unless right wingers get to "whitewash" cable, Netflix, etc. etc. etc. like you want to whitewash the schools.

Oh, Marauder..........................................................................
Jingoistic pronouncements are unsurprising from someone who lacks such a basic knowledge of their own country's history.

The "Lost Cause" explanation for the Civil War was still popular when I went to school in the 1960s and 70s.

No one bothered to show us the States' own Declared Reasons for Secession.

Tulsa Massacre? Battle of Blair Mountain? etc. etc. etc. etc.

Never happened.

Links don't gt it in this discussion, since even Hamilton and Madison did not agree on the meaning of welfare state. If they did not agree, those 2 guys, how in the hell am I expected to read some stupid link about that someone thinks about ANYTHING!?!?!? Are you with me? Lose it with the links, for god sakes. Jesus. Oh, except when it is backed up by a poll!!!! 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔 🤔

(I've never been polled,,,,have you?)

And funnier is that you write something about 'forcing children to be where they don't want to be". What a laugh. Conservatives tell their children where they are going to be, we don't AAAASSSKKKK them where they want to be! Jesus. Are you raising your children, or being friends with them????

This is one of the best points that I have EVER made in a post!
