So it looks like dems will not make a clean sweep of house, senate and WH.

Probably same ole same ole but with a dem POTUS where nothing AGAIN will happen despite Biden having WH and House. Without Senate we will be stuck in Moscow Mitch traitor mode for the next 4 years. Unless we kick out those bastards 2 years hence.

If Biden wins, in two years both house and Senate will likely be Republican.

Maybe it's time to abolish the two-party system? It's tearing the country apart and the solution is very obvious (hint: no, it's not a one party system).

Start with having the party who has the most votes win the election.

Perhaps you can amend the Constitution to do it.

Can the Senate block everything?

What about Executive Orders?

Yes change it; it’s already got lots of amendments, make another.

Biden starts in the same position where Obama languished for years. But can the GOP Senate simply return to a strategy of "block everything"? It's been their signature move, but does it still play in Peoria?

Obama started with both house and Senate. 2 years later the voters fixed it.

@Eladar
The Trump cult is over and my guess is most republican senators and house folks are secretly relieved and will start dickering sincerely with democrats since to seem to be following the Trump cult NOW will backfire BIGTIME if they keep up that really anti American stance they have been on for the past 4 years.

But one doesn't put infections "back in the box." One drains them.

Trump simply revealed the presence in American society of those same human traits that *every* despot taps into. Some people are wired (or become wired) to respond to the message:

- us vs them (God-fearing vs. 'progressive' - ew!)
- it's not your fault (read: whitey)
- you're being scammed (they are so unfair)
- foreigners are taking all the jobs (Mexicans and Muslims)
- your leaders have sold you out (to China)

It's textbook demagoguery. The question is, how did conditions get so ripe for that infection to take off? What ideas, steadily planted over time in certain people's minds - some half-truths, some complete fabrications - prepared the ground for Trump to sprout? He's not an impressive or vigorous or talented character at all. He just blossomed out of perfect conditions - like a fungal infection. So why are so many Americans exhibiting those conditions? How have they been insulted or damaged to allow this?

It might be as simple as Globalism and the accompanying sense angry helplessness. It’s not particularly a US phenomenon the same shift to angry right wing politics can be seen throughout Europe where they have the same trigger points of immigration and footloose manufacturing jobs.
