My family, my teachers, etc., always told me you have to be like everyone else to get along in this world. You have to do things the way everyone else does them and you have to follow the rules to succeed in life.
Why are people so insistent that everyone conform? Why are we forced to follow rules that are ridiculous? I have a very low tolerance for BS, and I have been butting my head against people who are obsessed with conformity and rules for as long as I can remember. It is my contention that in the modern world, it is quite possible to do well by being unique and ignoring alot of the silly rules of conformity we are burdened with.

Not gonna 😛
I am not attacking you, I was just curious about any examples. I think humans are naturally conforming, but we all want to think we are rebels who don’t care and live life on the edge, man.
For example: I see kids getting pierced and tattooed, which I think is as much conformity within their peer group as a religious person who never misses a Sunday, or an actress getting a boob job. If everybody in your peer group is doing something, if you also do it, it is conformity whether or not society at large condemns or condones it. Smoking is the ultimate expression of conformity. It is known to be harmful, but it sure is cool.

A very conform thing to do, really.
You should see the amount of trouble it has got me in!
I get verbally abused, I get fired, I get official warnings, I'm in trouble for not paying a fine (driving without a seatbelt on...none of their business), etc.
I get looked upon like I'm some sort of raving lunatic!!
*Sigh* it's just so unfair. *sigh*

oh.... sorry.
Uhm. I will date any age man I please, or I did before I met my ALex. 😀 I met my man online.
I have been known to cash my paycheck, then upon seeing a homeless person, I give it all to him.
I hate fashion dress codes. In high school, there was a ass't principal. Whatever little non conformity the students created with regards to hair or skin or dress, she would immediately come up with an anti rule. By the end of the year the list of rules was huge!
this is the solution for everything just get a bigger hammer. make the peg fit yes that would be it. I feel like the peg more often than not, forced to do things i don't want to, the best way I can describe how I feel is..."When everyone is dancing, I feel alone in the sea of faces." Does this make sense to anyone out there. I can't fall in love or be loved because i am what you call socially undesirable. i have been given this title for whatever reason. Does this make me a wall flower? Because i truly love to dance but don't like dancing alone. does this make me a non conformist not by choice but by rejection. Is there a difference?

even here I have been shunned to a point. often times, I like to read posts and respond to them, but recently have been told that my presence is disturbing and I am overdoing it I thought I was just blowing off steam since then I have been more selective with my posts.
I speak from experience.
