They knew the stars couldn't be counted (vast universe)
And if you look at the instructions that came from God in the OT (particularly Leviticus) you'll see that He gave them orders of what kinds of animals to eat, how to quarantine, how to wash their hands before eating...
Explain how Jews knew not to eat shellfish (vile unless properly cleaned), not to eat vultures, etc.
Explain how Jews knew the concept of germs thousands of years before anyone else:
Quarantined people with leprosy
Even burned garments of lepers so it wouldn't spread
They washed their hands before eating to get rid of germs.
Clearly God revealed these things to keep Jewish people healthy and alive until they could bare the Messiah.
