In Australia, the people of Queensland have resisted the floridation of their water. Anecdotally their kids have more occasion to visit dentists. My conspiracy is that the anti-floridation brigrade is an arm of the dental association, much like speed humps are an initiative of the motor traders association.
A theory about Queensland dentists is never going to punch at the same weight as one about the U.S. government experimenting on children whose parents don't distill their water, using the same Jew-subduing methods as the Nazis used before turning on the gas ovens.

Speed bumps are probably mandated in secret by the shock absorber companies. LOL
At low concentrations fluoride in drinking water doesn't appear to do all that much, judging by the Wikipedia article. As much as I like Kubrick movies, I don't see the big deal here.

How many parts per million is considered a low concentration IYO?

Well there is more chemicals they add to the water than floride when they fluoridate it. Also, for most people it doesn't cause much harm but some are more people are more sensitive to it than others. The other issue is that combining multiple sources of floride does cause dental fluorosis.

Sad but true. While we do enjoy punching on above our weight, there are always good arguments for a tactical withdrawal.

If it doesn't do much, why subject everyone in a population to it?
There is quite a bit of flouride in Tea, so if it does make you stupid as they say then the UK must be very stupid... I would take 5 points of my IQ for healthy teeth.

I can understand anyone making that calculation, but please don't make it for me. Does anyone understand the concept of individual responsibility and choice?

I'm not that concerned / paranoid about flouride, theres other chemicals i avoid, but flouride... are you going to stop using toothpaste (I bought flouride free tootpaste for a while but it was rubbish)
What can be bad is mouthwash, there are studies done in australia that show if smokers use mouthwash they up there chances of oral cancers a lot. (just like spirits and cigars combined will do) That is worth being concerned about. I don't use mouthwash. but flouride? I can see your point in a way but it doesn't bother me.

"The Australian Dental Association is an organisation of dentists which has as its aim the encouragement of the health of the public and the promotion of the art and science of dentistry. "
"Large numbers of studies over the last fifty years have shown conclusively that fluoride strengthens teeth against decay without causing harmful effects."

You might start by learning to spell fluoridation so searches will be more productive.
Still, fluoridation of public drinking water is the same as any socialistic determination of what is good for all people. Even if it is good for the majority, is that a justification for doing it over the objections of a few. Nothing prevents those who want the alleged "benefits" of fluoride getting treated by their dentist, or using fluoride rinses. Not using fluoride doesn't harm other people's teeth does it? There isn't "second hand" tooth decay is there?
On just general principle, I am repulsed by someone else dictating what is good for me, especially when there is any question of the good being without any down side. My current dentist is against fluoridation, and doesn't drink or use city water. He convinced me to invest in distilling equipment. When someone shows me there is no question of any risk from fluoridation, I might change, but I doubt it because public water is so badly polluted anyway.
