The reason people get angry when Holocaust "deniers" claim the real number killed was actually only 1 million, not 6 million, is that what is behind that claim is generally the implication that it was not a systematic attempt to destroy a race.
Which, of course, it was.
There is overwhelming evidence the correct figure was around 6 million.

And I don't want to get dragged into that.
Obviously the people trying to prove it was only 1 million are only trying to alleviate blame and guilt from the people they support.
Still, 1 million dead would have been better than 6 million, if it was the case (which it isn't).
