Well, liberal republicans, yes. To oversimplify, the GOP is split between conservatives (Cruz supporters, say) and big-government liberals (say Jeb or Rubio supporters). This may not make sense to you if you equate "conservative" with "republican."

Originally posted by normbenign Of course that applies as well to the left.
Hmmm, does it?
I'd say anyone voting for Bernie OR Hillary is voting for socialism. It's just that with Hillary you get cronyism, corruption, deceit, etc. along with your socialism.

You really believe liberals are supporting a candidate who proposed banning Muslims? You think it's liberals supporting someone who said women should be punished for having abortions?

You're not being honest with yourself.
You don't seem able to accept the idea that a conservative's definition of a "liberal" can include a big-government loving republican (like Jeb or Kasich) or an amnesty shill (Rubio). It's OK. Let's just call them "too far left for a conservative's taste", and Trump is definitely in that camp. Conservatives wanted Cruz.

Here is a dirty little secret, only big government politicians can be elected to the big government.
Originally posted by vivify Liberals elected Obama, not "the country". If you look at the popular vote in both of his elections, isn't wasn't by wide margins. If conservatives had their way, Obama would not have been elected; and If conservatives have their way again, Trump will be in office.
Incorrect.
By almost all estimates, no more 25% of Americans self-identify as "liberals," while Obama got well over 50% in both elections. Moderates elected Obama and it's (probably) moderates who will reject Trump.

Boy those moderates are doing a bang up job eh? Country's doing great. Can't wait for Hillary.

Link?
EDIT: Still doesn't change my overall point that conservatives weren't involved in electing Obama. Therefore, you shouldn't be dumbfounded at Trump's nomination, as if Republicans made some wild change.

It seems unlikely to me that a McCain or Romney administration would have drastically increased the top income tax bracket or drastically reduced military spending.
