So your point is what? That nothing has changed since the 50's?

Where do you see segregation being practiced today, and where is miscegenation still a crime? Like it or not it takes time for attitudes to change, and for some people to catch up to what has changed. Constantly harping over injustices in the past is counter productive, and does nothing to help in bringing everyone up to speed.
My point is that things were not better in the 50s. Some things were worse then than now, some other things have hardly changed, and still other things have gotten worse. For example, I don’t remember school shootings from when I was a kid; that phenomenon seems to have been kick-started by the Columbine massacre.

It.was better back then because you were too young to understand that there were bad things back then too?
That's pretty good.

Wildgrass, I had a happy childhood. Do you begrudge me that??
Most of the best TV shows were WWII or Westerns (Combat, Bonanza for example)

A little kid does not know about politics.

Lol no. I am not judging. But lets separate feelings that the world is changed from the fact that you have changed.

I asked you and not JJ only because I know JJ is an open racist and I am sure he loved racial segregation. I'd ask anybody that lived back then and talked about how great the 50s were.
.

Ok, well, my sentiment stands, bur I can say in hindsight that 'separate but equal' ended but only as
an official government policy. In reality, we still deal with black 'hoods in the cities and white suburbs around them.

The problems we see may not be insurmountable but today's woke remedies are doing nothing but pouring gasoline on them.
A lot of discord today, a lot. And it is unnecessary

True but it seems civilisation and civilised behaviour always ultimately wins out, so racism, and all the other hates are doomed in the end.

Really...?
How about Jews and dessert dwellers? Come to think of it, Jews and Euros, as well

- Russians and Ukrainians
- Greeks and Turks
- Japanese and Chinese
- Indians and Pakistanis

and more

I did say “in the end” so there’s that.
What about Germany that went from nazism to one of the most liberal and enlightened nations on the planet in one or two generations.
I didn’t realise the Turks and Greeks were still at war I thought they had come to a civilised peace
The Jews are desert dwellers every bit as much as the Palestinians if you’re referring to their geographical location. You do realise that Palestinians called present day Israel Home until they were driven out and still do.
Indians and Pakistanis are pretty much the same people divided along religious lines.
There is more than a little hope that the current Russian regime will crumble at some point due to its barbaric invasion of its fellow Slavic neighbour.
Again the Japanese are a very different society to the one that invaded and brutalised Nanking
The Chinese are now the ones with imperial designs in the region.
Wether you like it or not earl we are generally speaking, at least universally recognising a higher moral standard even if we do not all live up to it all the time.
Oh yeah you missed out
The US and Vietnam
And
The US coalition and Iraq

Either that or people become the very thing they claim to hate perpetuating the racism and hate by having the pendulum swing the other way, the perpetrators and victims change places.

It can happen and it’s no less immoral but a lot of the time, especially in relatively safe and stable countries, just extending the freedom of minorities can cause the majority to claim victimhood, change is often scary.

Which is why grace instead of revenge is better.

Certainly is you’d never catch me calling for revenge by one community over another. That’s just more lambs to the slaughter and another generation of vengeful victims

You don't quite get it. Firstly, the Americans are NOT a natural enemy with the Vietnamese or the Iraqis.

On the other hand, the world once had a country named Yugoslavia headed by tough man, Tito. When Tito died,
the country broke down on ethnic lines - Serbs and Croats, who never got along. Czechoslovakia met a similar fate.

Here's one: the Hutu and Tutsi people shared a peaceful coexistence in Rwanda, despite strong ethnic divisions.
Then one day it began. 100 days later, 800 thousand Tutsi were slaughtered. And then they went back to peace.

Somebody added "Irish v Irish" or Irish Catholic v Protestant, which can break out any time.

English and French is another.

Caucasian settlers in Western America v. American Indians. Brutal.

African Americans and Caucasians in America never had a war. And I don't think they will, despite the efforts of WOKE folk.

No one is anyone’s natural enemy that’s the point.
The French and the English were competitors and that is what generated the enmity
The Viet Cong were communist and the US was an evangelically capitalist country and that’s what generated the enmity
The balkans are divided along ethnic and religious lines with a brutal history of cyclical violence and revenge, when Tito popped his clogs the borders were in flux, with stronger ethnic groups trying to elbow the smaller groups in order to expand their own borders and that’s were the enmity came from.
Nobody is anybody else’s ‘natural enemy’, we are neither lions nor lambs but Homo sapiens ( clever and mischievous monkeys )
