@kevcvs57 saidWe are selfish people who want what we want when we want it and from time to time more often than not, we lie to one another, lust after each other, and the things each other has, kill each other, steal from one another, doing all manner of evil, and not one of us are immune to behaving this way, it is our nature. We are also a mixed bag where we lay down our lives for each other, which means there are no good guys and bad guys there are just guys who could be either the victim or perpetrator at any given moment.
No one is anyone’s natural enemy that’s the point.
The French and the English were competitors and that is what generated the enmity
The Viet Cong were communist and the US was an evangelically capitalist country and that’s what generated the enmity
The balkans are divided along ethnic and religious lines with a brutal history of cyclical violence and revenge, when Tito ...[text shortened]... ‘natural enemy’, we are neither lions nor lambs but Homo sapiens ( clever and mischievous monkeys )
@kilroy70 saidLike studying history and all the things that really happened, learning about past injustices hopefully will help our society not make those same mistakes going forward. Too bad people like you want to cover up all those mistakes just to keep from feeling bad about them. Ignoring them just makes them more likely to happen again. But maybe that's what you really want, I dunno.
So your point is what? That nothing has changed since the 50's?
Where do you see segregation being practiced today, and where is miscegenation still a crime? Like it or not it takes time for attitudes to change, and for some people to catch up to what has changed. Constantly harping over injustices in the past is counter productive, and does nothing to help in bringing everyone up to speed.

I did say “in the end” so there’s that.
What about Germany that went from nazism to one of the most liberal and enlightened nations on the planet in one or two generations.
I didn’t realise the Turks and Greeks were still at war I thought they had come to a civilised peace
The Jews are desert dwellers every bit as much as the Palestinians if you’re referring to their geo ...[text shortened]... p to it all the time.
Oh yeah you missed out
The US and Vietnam
And
The US coalition and Iraq
LOL…no, you were shown evidence of being dead wrong!
@kellyjay saidSo you agree that no one is anyone else’s natural enemy but human generated false differences like religion, nationality and culture cause the macro enmity we experience.

People do not transgress against others because they are the enemy, that’s the mischievous monkey at work, but they might convince themselves that the victim is the enemy to justify the theft.
@kevcvs57 saidWe use things like religion, science, politics, worldviews, color, nationality, income, historical grievances, age, family, sports teams, and on and on to generate hatred for each other. I do agree there is no natural enemy among us, but that doesn't stop us from creating some justification to hate someone else.

@mott-the-hoople saidRead my reply halfwit, I realise reading is a bit of a leap in the dark for you, try saying it loud while you read it, it has been known to have helped other brain injury patients.

@kellyjay saidNo I know but that puts the onus on us to not do that, if we accept that the we are predetermined to hate then it releases us from any responsibility for our many self determined and wilful hatred’s.

Logic and self interest demands that we do not hate each other but for some reason the monkey has other ideas.
I don’t think we are actually disagreeing here
@kevcvs57 saidThe onus is on us, we act according to our wants and desires, and many times we would do even more, to and with each other, were it not for some self-interest repercussions that could come into play. Entertaining some ideas we know if we were to act on them, they could harm us more than we would like, loss of family, respect, job, and reputations. Still, some get a little too close to the edges of those types of temptations thinking they could get away with it, and end up ruining all the lives affected by their selfishness.
