Well if you like unctious, sanctimonius, lying, hypocrites, who can like .... you know, pause for a few seconds... after, like, every second or third word ... because ..well, it shows how much ... he really cares ... and being a straight sort of a guy ... and all ... so you can trust him ... cause he's the people's prime minister ... and he feels your pain ...and like ... well, he's solved third world poverty ... by... you, know ... having a rock concert ... which... like worked so brilliantly ... to make Bangladesh ... and, you know, ... Ethiopia, ... the economic success stories they are today

This post is a masterpiece of accurate characterisation. I note that the only people on this site who have been fooled by Blair are Americans.

Blair's problem is that he has always been too mannered and too articulate - and then we're expected to believe that he doesn't know about things like the 45-minute claim in the dodgy dossier.

Sometimes he works well - his early speeches upon becoming Labour leader were genuinely powerful at times - but over the last ten years he has become so mannered and eloquent that I find it hard to listen to him. He hasn't really mastered the art of political humour, either, the "Tally ho!" speech aside - a good example of someone who does know how to use it sparingly is Gordon Brown, whose use of "certain parties have made representations to me" to ridicule the Conservatives during Budget presentations is actually quite funny.

sic..'I know, too, that as people see me struggling with it, they think he's stopped caring about us; or worse he's just pandering to George Bush and what's more in a cause that's irrelevant to us.

It's been hard for you...(is he referring to Bush's war stiffy?)

I have come to realise that caring in politics isn't really about "caring".

It's about doing what you think is right and sticking to it.'

Which means that it's OK to perpetuate a lie, so long as you
believe saving face is more important.

I believe Blair to be very skillful. I still would like to believe he is a decent bloke, yet most of me knows better. Not many people could have lead Britain as succesfully as he has for the last ten years.

The war was his biggest mistake.
