@AverageJoe1 saidYOU and others have taken this discussion far afield from the actual topic i.e. "Trump 3rd term".
@AverageJoe1
Oh, I do think that you may be shuffling some goal post around, given that this is a discussion about federal income tax??? Not tax paid on a pkg of slim Jim’s at the corner joint? Or a bottle of Mountain Dew?
You did mention something about issues yesterday, how about you stick to it yourself?
Bitching about me now showing the inaccuracy of a statement you used is pretty pathetic given the circumstances.
And you are lying anyway; you talked about people on an island paying nothing while others paid the full cost. That is hardly focusing purely on the Federal income tax, is it?
@no1marauder saidYou are right. Ok, what do you say about 40% pay no income tax? You and Sonhouse. There is absolutely nothing wrong with an island analogy, obviously to separate from inane fluff.

. The island of the USA, has 40% of its inhabitants paying nothing in income tax, while enjoying its benefits.
Please render your argument.
@no1marauder saidBut I put to you, please, income taxes, for god sake.
AJ: about half of us, do not pay taxes.
Your statement is wrong and moreover BS propaganda. The elites that control the right wing propaganda mills you 100% rely on for information skew the facts in this manner constantly.
Federal income taxes are not the only taxes people in the US pay; they are not even the only federal taxes people pay. Read my link and learn something.
Also, please, you say that half of us do not pay taxes?!!??., Half of us buy incidentals everyday, where tax is required.
C’mon , it’s Sunday. And Sonhouse-merry go-around is quite enough.
@AverageJoe1 saidThey pay plenty in other taxes.

If anything, our tax system is too regressive and doesn't fully account for the declining marginal utility of income:
"The more money you have, the less each new dollar tends to add to your happiness —"
"Diminishing marginal utility of income means each additional dollar you earn improves your life less than the one before it. The first $20,000 a person earns covers food, shelter, and basic safety; the next $20,000 buys comfort and security; and by the time someone is adding a fifth or sixth $20,000 to their annual income, those dollars are going toward wants that barely register against the backdrop of an already comfortable life. "

Quite simply, the poor, working and middle class need that extra dollar way more than the rich do, so it contributes to the overall level of economic satisfaction that they pay a higher share than those with smaller incomes.
@AverageJoe1 saidYOU said half of us don't pay taxes, I certainly didn't.

@no1marauder saidI am not much of a copy paste guy. I will post herewith two things that I have written above, that I have simply queried you about. You will not directly answer these queries. Ask me a question if you want to, but could you answer mine first?

I will now try to repost, wish me luck. And know , this is about income taxes. If you are still uncomfortable that the issues have changed in this thread, I will be glad to start a new thread on this very subject.
@AverageJoe1 saidThis is the 1st one.
Wandering off? I am asking a simple questikon,,,,your perfect world has people being responsible for other people. Do you think it is OK for Mamdani to ask hardworking , service-providing, product-providing American citizens, self-reliant independent Americans, to give 40% of their income to people who are NOT self- reliant???
I may ask you this again.
PS>. As a courtesy to my friend Sonhouse, this query will not require a reference to President Trump.
@AverageJoe1 said2nd one
? Is Jeff Bezos not a producer? He just produced something to my front door yesterday morning, that I'd ordered 16 hours earlier.
Query, suzianne.....please follow this logic for our entertainment....should I pay money to his company for that service, for that production???
Please. Let' chat. How else can we learn? There is instruction inbedded in these posts.....
@AverageJoe1 saidAnd this?

@no1marauder saidINCOME taxes. You’re dodging is not so artful.
YOU said half of us don't pay taxes, I certainly didn't.
@AverageJoe1 saidIncome taxes have to be looked at as part of the money raised by the government.

Your attempt to limit the discussion only to them (and only Federal income taxes) and claim that anyone who doesn't pay them isn't contributing at all to public revenue is dishonest and I won't play your game.

@AverageJoe1 saidOnly about half of Federal revenue comes from the income tax while over third comes from payroll taxes that most of the wealthy's income is exempt from:
INCOME taxes. You’re dodging is not so artful.

@AverageJoe1 saidYeah, man, it does get complicated. That is why I try to keep it simple. They don’t get much simpler than this post. So what do you think about this question that I have in this post? If you agree that we should pay Bezos, with millions of people paying Bezos, he receives a lot of money. So the question is, should we be paying Bezos so much money. If you say, yes, then follow-up is how much to pay him.

This clarifies the issues, because it is not about income tax or taxes on soft drinks..
@no1marauder saidYes, I have truly tried my best to limit it to just income taxes, so we would not, like you, go all over the place about various factors in the taxing world. Next someone like Sunhouse will be writing about tax breaks for the Rich. Then you have Pandora Box and I’m too busy so let’s limit it to income tax.

40% of us do not pay income tax. Yet those 40% benefit using hosp, school, security, roads….I know this is too hot to handle but that’s why I ask you.
@no1marauder saidNot the issue
