South Africa has been plagued with increasing crime, rolling electricity blackouts, bad roads and other problems. But whites aren't being targeted anymore than anyone else with money, and Afrikaaners are heavily armed. So there is no 'refugee' status. The Cape is better off than the Free State, from what I saw.
These folks are absolutely 'immigrants fleeing bad conditions' - which per US law makes them 'illegal' and they should be deported back where they came from. BUT they are white. So Trump wants them. 😆

The claims are between the embassy and these families. Why, everyone is trying to come between them, and only 59 refugees, for something like extending an olive branch. These 8000 inquiries came to the state department. This just looks like a test to see how superior the media is reporting the stories.

"We are not calling for the slaughtering of white people — at least for now," Julius Malema said ... A South African opposition leader on Monday threatened the country’s white minority in a speech reflecting frustration among many in the black majority over a perceived lack of economic benefits since the end of apartheid.
Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters party, made the remarks outside a courthouse where he faces charges connected to his alleged calls to supporters to occupy land owned by whites, who retain considerable economic clout in South Africa 22 years after the end of white minority rule.
European colonizers “found peaceful Africans here. They killed them. They slaughtered them like animals,” Malema said. “We are not calling for the slaughtering of white people — at least for now. What we are calling for is for peaceful occupation of the land.” To cheering supporters, Malema said: “I’m here to disturb the white man’s peace. The white man has been comfortable for too long.”
The Economic Freedom Fighters party, which says land must be redistributed to poor blacks to get rid of the legacy of apartheid, won about eight percent of the nationwide vote in municipal elections in August. The Democratic Alliance, a larger, more moderate opposition party that made big gains in those elections, condemned Malema’s remarks about white people.
“This violent and threatening language has no place in our constitutional democracy,” the Democratic Alliance said in a statement. “Hate and violence only detracts from this vision and tears apart the dream Nelson Mandela had for our beautiful country in 1994.”

For one, this article is old. Zuma was President 2009-2018. Cyril Ramaphosa is President now. If you followed SA at all, you would know that right off.
As for Malema, he’s a communist and anti-white. But his methods remain unpopular. When Zimbabwe tried appropriating land from white farmers (a lot of them migrated to SA), the country couldn’t feed itself. Farming effectively today requires a lot of machinery and investment, not just land, and many appropriated farms just fail.
There have been similar calls for land reform in the US from Native Americans, and around the world in various places (eg Palestine). They have a point - but in many places natives have been swamped by migrant Europeans, which is not the case in SA.
The present SA government does not want trained and capable whites to leave because that just drives the economy down further. But they also want land reform. It’s going to be a challenge how they achieve both. 😆
