@soothfast saidWell, I suppose that's what you're "news" source has told you about me (a complete stranger to you and to them).
Oh, be assured that "the news" is still credible. You just take your marching orders from the gaslighting propaganda of right-wing fringe outlets.
Truth is not easy to discern when it comes to politics. But it doesn't take much reflection and consideration to start to see just how dishonest our news media is. That doesn't give one a magic ability to say what IS true. But it is relatively easy to be certain we're being lied to.
Oh, and if I had to guess, I'm pretty sure you'd say that Fox New is lying. But you'd probably do it real clever and spell it "Faux News" rather than "Fox News", and then I'd know how well informed you really are.
@techsouth saidDamn you’re thick.

@shavixmir saidYou know, I can kind of look around and assess how I stand with regards to the rest of society.
Damn you’re thick.
I do okay professionally, I did well in college classes that many others struggled in, I manage my finances reasonably well and have done okay staying out of debt. I do a good job avoiding sales scams. When I compare myself with others around me for ordinary markers of general competence, I feel like I'm at least as good as most in the ability to think reasonably.
In regards to news, I generally work to avoid believing things are true just because they match my preferred narrative and I avoid being quick to assume the other guy is lying. It's taken many years to understand my own cognitive blind spots, and I accept the reality that I might be wrong about several things that I believe. Overall, I don't encounter too many people that seem like they've even started to understand their own cognitive blind spots and most don't even understand that they too have glaring blind spots.
So when I get responses like "Damn you're thick", all I can say is maybe you're right. But if that's what you're bringing to the table, I kind of think I'm the one putting in more effort at discerning truth. I would love it if I had some way to make you consider your own bias more carefully, but I know from experience with myself and others that we all overestimate our own objectivity and underestimate that of others.
You might be right and I might be wrong, but nothing you've written so far has made me more inclined to second guess myself more than I would do ordinarily. Perhaps I'm really "thick" and all the people struggling to pay bills know better than me all ingredients needed to form a prosperous country and how to know for sure whether a stranger in Washington is lying. I haven't figured that out yet, but I hope you'll understand when I'm not so quick to agree.
@techsouth saidIt's Faux Nooz, you numby. That's how it's spelled.

The conspiracy-minded always believe that the tiny niche outlets where they get their "information" somehow have direct access to the unvarnished Truth. This is not a controversial observation, and you need to understand that you are on that side of the fence, and the sane world (i.e. the vast majority) are on the other side.
You've fallen into the trap. Taken the bait. Bamboozled yourself. You and all the other crazy-ass cranks churning out sheer nonsense around here and elsewhere. Groupthink. Cult mentality. Characterize it as one will, it's nothing short of amazing to me how fully and irretrievably the human mind can deceive itself.
But me, I stay on the side that is in the light. I do not skulk about in the sleazy recesses of the Internet where those enslaved by their prejudices toil to fashion their own bizarro reality from scratch. This goes for scientific matters as well as political ones.
You do not have your finger on the pulse of the Truth. Not you, not Metal Brain, and not Uncle Joe ranting and raving at the Thanksgiving dinner table.
@soothfast saidYou are a stranger to me, yet you claim to know all this about me.

Not a single thing you've said hits home. You don't know me. You don't know how I form my opinions.
If you had any self awareness at all, the mere fact that you've asserted so much so confidently about a stranger and then accused that person being deceived, you'd be embarrassed.
If you'll review this thread, I've actually stated that I DON'T have magic access to the truth. My most basic claim ought not to even be controversial. It's that ALL of us are being lied to by very skillful liars and we ought to all not be so quick to believe the narratives that are being crafted for us.
Edit: Here is what I wrote earlier: Truth is not easy to discern when it comes to politics. But it doesn't take much reflection and consideration to start to see just how dishonest our news media is. That doesn't give one a magic ability to say what IS true. But it is relatively easy to be certain we're being lied to.
From that, you believe that I would claim to [/i]have direct access to the unvarnished Truth[/i]
Are you just cutting and pasting insults from arguments you're having with other people?
@techsouth
You maybe do not remember me, but I do remember you. Years back, now!
All your protestations about looking for your "blind spots" and trying to be open-minded notwithstanding, coming by and professing the usual nonsense about the news and the FBI having no credibility, especially in the context of this thread, puts you squarely in the nutter category.
Try harder regarding those blind spots.
@soothfast saidI don't remember specifics of direct interactions, but the name is familiar (mostly because of the Fibonacci series). Most likely our past interactions were cases where you feel like you got the better of me much like is happening now.

I have come here as a man that has gained significant insight into the nature of his own blind spots. You, so far, seem to be a man that has never encountered that in yourself.
I am giving you a chance to convince me I'm wrong, or at least challenge my thinking more than you have so far.
Merely repeating the assertion that I'm wrong won't do it.
Let me give you a chance to bolster your credibility with me. If you succeed, that will elevate my perception of you and I can assure you that would be a powerful mechanism you could use to increase my likelihood of second guessing myself on these very issues.
Can you tell me any major narrative that the Democrats have used to discredit Republicans recently that was done in bad faith (i.e. dishonestly/disingenuously/etc)?
It's your choice. You can take some time to demonstrate you understand that the ugly side of politics permeates everywhere. Or you can heap another round of insults at me.
The former will bolster your credibility, the latter will allow me to walk away more certain that you have nothing useful to improve my understanding of the world.
@jimm619 saidyou forget the relationship Trump and fara were having...a news article talking about only a day before the raid...doj/fbi are looking for documents to do with crossfire hurricane that could land many of them in jail when dems lose power in nov.
All politics, huh?
What did he want these documents for?
By the way , The Government asked, cajoled
and even served a subpoena to retrieve these documents.
As a last resort, in order to keep these documents secure,
a Federal Magistrate, issued a search warrant when The Govt.
showed probable cause that TRUMP was unlawfully
retaining 'Classified Documents.

@techsouth
What the FLOCK are you talking about? PARKING TICKETS?
You think attacks on our national security is the same as PARKING TICKETS?
I HELD A TS CLEARANCE and took it seriously.
CLEARLY you don't.
You just want to believe your god king can do no wrong and anything he claims to have declassified makes ALL of it ok.
I know one thing for CERTAIN:
If this had been done by a DEM POTUS you would be screaming to the top of your smoke addled lungs, TRAITOR, FIRING SQUAD IS WHAT HE NEEDS.
Go ahead, deny it. When you do, then tell me if Trump is above the law.
I
@Earl-of-Trumps
If Carter stole national secrets like Trump did, we would go after him, sentiment or no.
Of course you would just deny that.
The truth is not something you can consider.
Like the FACK JACK that Trump is NOT above the law
AND it turns out there ARE laws about taking docs like that.
In fact it was signed into law by TRUMP HIMSELF.
So it's ok for the goose but not the gander.
You can't have it even CLOSE to both ways.
Either you condone Trump's OVBVIOUS crimes or you are one of those actively involved in the attempt to destroy democracy here.
And if you think our democracy can't fail, think again.
People like you would rather have ANY form of government not named Democratic.
@earl-of-trumps saidI can't see Jimmy Carter actually doing it. Can you?
@jimm619
you don't do this to a former POTUS. I just can't imagine something like this happening to Jimmy Carter. Can you?
But Trump? Of course I can see it. Head Don of the Trump Crime Family. Grifters, all of them. This is right up their alley.
@soothfast saidI have nothing to add.
