News item this week: there was run-off election in a congressional district in the state of Texas. Two Republicans were on the ticket (no Democrats), so the seat was going to stay Rep. no matter what. Trump very publicly endorsed candidate A; in the event, candidate B won. In a subsequent interview, Trump claimed a win. Well, yes, it was a win for the Rep. party, but that was known in advance. It was clearly a slap in the face to Donald Trump, but he won't admit it. He never admits defeat, even when it is staring him in the face. That's part of his distorted personality: toxic positivity. In order to learn from a mistake, you first have admit you made one, and he never does (admit to making mistakes).

So, what lesson do sensible people draw from this episode? That Trump is losing his grip. On reality? Of course, but we knew that already. More importantly, he is losing his grip on the party. Texans, at least, are able to think for themselves and do something other than what Trump tells them to. Bravo. There is hope for Texas yet.

I’m sure he lost his grip on reality the first time a woman in a nurses uniform smacked his naked rear end. Hopefully the conclusion from this is that he’s losing his grip on the Republican Party.

I wouldn't be this pessimistic. In fact it would mean that people are set once and for all at birth. I do hope that humans (in general and specifically each one) are able to change.

The memoirs published to date indicate that his upbringing, and especially his father, had a profound influence on Donald’s attitude to life, the universe, and everything.

I believe that immediately. However that happened after birth. Kev seemed to imply that the Donald was already lost at birth...

Oh, Trump exposed himself all right -- as a complete idiot when he suggested at a press conference that scientists investigate injecting people with disinfectant and putting light inside the body, as means of treating COVID.

There may be a genetic factor predisposing to idiocy, that is to say, below average intelligence, but I seriously doubt there is a genetic factor dispositive of pathological lying, toxic positivity, living in denial, narcissism type 2, low self-esteem coupled with limelighting, gaslighting, and grandstanding. These are all learned behavior patterns.

Trump is not the brightest bulb in the closet, but compared to Biden he is a genius.

Possibly. At least Biden understands how the rule of law works. Trump doesn't.

Which is exactly what the Russians were already looking at, where do you think he got the idea?

Rule of law does not apply to high level politicians.

No offense, but I did not read the above. I think it is about Trump, and to read it would be to acquiesce to the attempt by you fellers (and the entire Democratic Army) to deflect the attention of the citizenry away from the horrible goings-on in our country.
You still writing about Trump are you? Is that you, Sonhouse?

A politician claims a moral victory that others say is not warranted.

Wow! Unprecedented!!! I never thought I'd live to see the day when politicians would do such a thing. We're in unchartered waters here.
