Your problem lies in the fact that you believe your opinion should be believed as if it were fact.
I’m pretty sure I remember the timeline and the EU was involved in trying to pull Ukraine away from a Russian orbit and into its own. The actual process was very murky but I’m pretty sure that the Obama Whitehouse was definitely in the camp that wanted the Ukraine to veer more towards the west and away from Russian influence and guess what Putin wasn’t happy about it and consequently annexed the Crimea and effectively a chunk of Eastern Ukraine using regular Russian forces allied to pro Russian militias in both areas.

“More flexibility” on what, on orchestrating a western leaning Ukraine as opposed to the eastern leaning Ukraine and that’s what your trying to convince us that Putin colluded with the Obama administration on that project. Any argument must have an internal logic to make it viable, your argument is not viable.

What were Putin's poll numbers before the annexation of Crimea as compared to after? This event was not meant to take over the Ukraine but improve Putin's position in Russia. It was all orchestrated for Russian propaganda.
