@no1marauder saidYou are the liar. In another thread you claimed the US overthrow of Syria was a justified invasion because Assad was a bad leader. You admitted invasion for regime change is something you support.
You keep lying; I opposed US intervention in Syria and did so on this Forum.
Both the US and Russia intervened in Syria long before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, so your little conspiracy theory makes no sense.
EDIT: I will no longer respond to your outright lies that I supported US military interventions that I absolutely did not. These are desperate attempts by you to change the subject and I won't continue to dignify such falsehoods.
You cannot put the crap back in the horse. You admitted it because Russia tried to stop the USA regime change efforts in Syria.
"Both the US and Russia intervened in Syria long before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, so your little conspiracy theory makes no sense."
No, it makes perfect sense. The USA wanted to bog down Russia in a war with Ukraine because Russia was ruining the US regime change effort in Syria. That is why US officials said NATO for Ukraine would happen even though behind closed doors they were saying it wouldn't happen.
The USA goaded Russia into invading Ukraine so Russia would be too busy in Ukraine to help Assad. It worked too. Even your secret buddy Trump pointed that out. He bragged they had the oil and were going to keep it. Remember?
You will not respond to this because you will have to admit you are the true liar who supports the US invasion of Syria for regime change because you think Assad was a bad man. You could not bring yourself to say you supported Russia's support of Assad to fight off the invaders/Al Qaeda Terrorists.
Our government replaced Assad with a known Al Qaeda terrorist. Now you have an Al Qaeda dictator to replace Assad. Are you happy?

So, your post seems to not feel too good about this concept?? Just askin,
1994: Russia and the US guarantee Ukrainian security.
2014: Russia invades Ukraine (i.e. Crimea.)
2019: US President demands Ukraine smear his political opponent in exchange for continued arms sales (illegal under US law.)
2021: US supports Ukraine with tanks and planes and long-range missiles.
2025: US President screams incoherently at Ukrainian President in the Oval Office and indicates withdrawing support, wants immediate surrender of Ukraine to Russia.
Russia is the worst in this triad - totally bad. The US is a mix: some good, some bad. We SHOULD be all good! π

The "invaders" Russia was helping Assad fight were the Syrian People. But the US shouldn't have gotten involved at all.

The unrest triggered nationwide protests demanding President Assad's resignation. The government's use of force to crush the dissent merely hardened the protesters' resolve. By July 2011, hundreds of thousands were taking to the streets across the country.
Opposition supporters eventually began to take up arms, first to defend themselves and later to expel security forces from their local areas.

2. Descent into civil war
Grieving Syrian man and injured girl
Violence escalated and the country descended into civil war as rebel brigades were formed to battle government forces for control of cities, towns and the countryside. Fighting reached the capital Damascus and second city of Aleppo in 2012."

Your simple minded view of the world makes you incapable of understanding that sometimes the People in other countries act in what they perceive as their own interests regardless of Big Power machinations. The civil war in Syria was a just uprising against dictatorship and oppression, but foreign nations should have stayed out of it.
I said that when it started (just like in Libya) and my views haven't changed.
And none of this has anything to do with Russia's war against Ukraine.
@no1marauder saidYou mean Al Qaeda terrorists. They used to be the bad guys, remember?
No, I didn't.

You still have a Al Qaeda dictator running Syria. A dictator the US government supports, like the Shah of Iran was supported by the USA.
Our government supports brutal dictators, yet you support regime change of dictators in countries our government invades. Your hypocrisy is obvious. You cannot put the crap back in the horse.

Of course propagandist are going to call it that you fool!
Now that Assad is gone where is the democracy in Syria? You supported replacing one brutal dictator with another. You are laughable. You just hate Russia because propaganda influenced you to hate Russia. Hence your contradiction of logic. That is how you know you got hijacked by propaganda. Your obvious contradictions.

I have never once supported the US invading another country to overthrow a dictator; overthrowing dictators is the job of the People of the country with one.
Unlike you, I have consistent philosophical positions. You, on the other hand, are merely a Putin lap dog.

@Metal-Brain said(Shrug) So hopefully they (the People of Syria) will throw this dictator out if that what he turns out to be. Admittedly, I haven't followed the recent events there that closely.

@no1marauder saidYou never had a clear goal while supporting the regime change efforts in Syria. Our government did though. They lifted the bounty they had on his head.

Do you support regime change in Saudi Arabia? MBS is a bad man, right?

@Metal-Brain saidOf course. No dictatorship is legitimate and we should land the 10th Mountain Division on Arabian shores ASAP and remove the entire House of Saud and nation-build a democratic government there. π
Do you support regime change in Saudi Arabia? MBS is a bad man, right?
It is a complete no-brainer.
If we had the money, that is. Sadly, we don't. Our taxes are too low to pay for that! π
EDIT: Oh and Congress will have to declare war on Saudi Arabia - like it says on the package. I get so enthusiastic, I get ahead of myself! π
@Metal-Brain saidI support the right of any People to resist oppression and end dictatorships.

I don't support foreign interference in the internal affairs of other countries.
You just can't seem to understand that there is no contradiction in these beliefs.

He's embracing Western Democracy and will be a great President, we hope. π
@spruce112358 saidYou are naive to say 'we should all be good'. Did you get that out of a nursery rhyme? Did the nursery rhyme say to let male javelin throwers, (never rating more than a 6th place) change competition venues to throw javelin against women, .....and WIN!!??

Is that being good? Liberals such as yourself support such goings-on. It is NOT good. Y'all are so perplexed.
@no1marauder saidCan't resist. Given our contribution, should Z offer to let Ukraine be a state? Why not? Or, should he just keep up getting the free stuff, which is liberal city. No wonder you are all cool with them taking, but not giving. The American liberal Way.
Adding conditions after the fact is acting in bad faith.
When aid was given there was no mention that Ukraine would have to reimburse any other country for it (as every country but the US under Trump recognizes); the countries gave such aid because they believed it was in their best interests to oppose Russian aggression.
