I don't consider asking other countries for assistance when you are invaded by an aggressive neighbor "begging". Zelensky is saying, and most Western countries including the US before Trump agreed, that sending such aid advanced their own countries' security interests in deterring Russian expansion. Sorry, that's not like someone asking you for quarter on a street corner.
