I think this blogger makes a few good points:

Red herring. All 50 DOTs don't have enough money. It's been this way since the beginning of the interstate system. Almost all American ifrastructure suffers form that same problem.

Moreover, if the we hadn't siphoned off billions of our transportation dollars to build and maintain trains that practically nobody rides, we would have more money for things like making sure bridges don't fall into the river.

Full disclosure: I used to traverse that bridge on a semi-regular basis.

Getting back to the thread. Haven't you all seen enough of what happens when a ME nations gets destabilized? Do you really need to see what happens if the Saudi royals get the bounce?

Not that I would mind the House of Saud getting burned to the ground, but we would need a real government to take it's place.

And that my friends, is a trick no magician can pull off.

$15 BILLION for 6,400 workers is not "creating jobs". It's pork/kickbacks for the rich.

So?

By the way, what is the range of people who are "rich"? I want to calculate your response, since it's not very clear...😕

I know that 20% of Americans own 84% of the wealth, and 10% own 70%, so your figure seems reasonable.

So? I'm thinking of doing away with all rich people so the rest of us can pay our fair share. But since i'm considered rich by Uncle Sam, I think i'll fire ALL three of my employees and work under the table,by myself, like the smart poor people do. All my rich friends have agreed to do the same. I'm tired of getting punished for busting my ass for 30 years and giving people jobs. I've had it with this redistribution of wealth crap. All non rich people....dig deep into your pockets and buck up my share of taxes. Thank you. I quit.

If that is the case, then that makes sense. They are allies of sorts and need gear to fight off invaders and/or terrorists.
Allies? Oh right, Saudi for their oil, and Israel because the bible says Israel must exist when Armagedon comes or else all Christians will go to hell.

Excellent reasons to be allies.

Doesn't matter if the reason is good or not.
