This article puts into words all that I have felt about the US under Dubya.

Neocons will probably not have the mental capacity to read the whole article, but I would be interested to see what more reasoned folk think.

Scary stuff.

Where is DSR, Delmer and #1, and their guns, defending the rights of the people now? Freedom is rapidly failing to exist, and all the guns in the world is doing nothing about it.

Our democratic habits are too resilient, and our military and judiciary too independent, for any kind of scenario like that.

So, who understands the woman/man writing?

Is it time to yell in the streets ripping one's clothes, covering the wounds with ashes, or not?

Your avatar, forum title and location would have pleased Mussolini, who made himself out to be a great sportsman, although he was nothing of the sort. (I think any fascist leader of the United States is more likely to follow the example of Mussolini, rather than Hitler).--It doesn't matter, though--fascism is fun!

It's always time for that.

Like I said:

"Neocons will probably not have the mental capacity to read the whole article"

This one clearly fell asleep at the effort of understanding all those long words.

Yes. I was a little taken aback by this line too!

I think the writer is making the point that whilst things may be bad, there is a long way to go before the US is as bad as Hitler's Germany or Mussolini's Italy.
It does seem a little complacent though, given that Bush has "...already purged eight US attorneys...".
This does rather seem to undermine the claim that "the judiciary (is) too independent".

There may be a long way to go, but the parallels between Hitler and Bush are numerous and frightening.

I think it was a joke.

Better off that you stick to learning the rules of paper, rock, scissors, NO1Defrauder:

http://www.redhotpawn.com/board/showthread.php?threadid=57849&page=7

"no1marauder (I figure Howard figures that I'll figure that he won't throw the same thing twice but then I'll figure that he's figured that and will throw Rock figuring that I've out-figured him. But I've got it all figured out and throw: Scissors.) "

If you reasoned that I would throw rock, then why would you chose scissors? Do you want to lose?
You must be a lousy lawyer when Rock Paper Scissors is clearly beyond your mental powers!"

Well, the gun lovers are always claiming it's "to prevent tyranny", yet here is clearly the very foundations of tyranny being laid. Yet, instead of being resisted, it's being celebrated by the same bunch which claim that laws setting minimum wages, or setting up healthcare, are tyrannical.

Maybe I'm not getting the American Right's policies, but laws to tap phones and imprison people without trial are okay, but ones to help the poorest in society are not.

Guess they probably don't want to waste thier time with this kind of dribble. I'm am starting to wonder which part of the world is really paranoid.

It's not paranoia if the other country has a history of invading states based on faulty intelligence and whimsy.
