It has been reported recently that the U.S. has been considering placing space-based weapons into space in order to ensure the safety of their sattelites. Russian premier Vladimir Putin, upon hearing this interesting piece of news, proclaimed that such an action could lead to Russia to violent action against such measures. Diplomacy, of course, is the first choice of action, but if diplomacy fails then an arms race could progress at a rapid pace. What do you think about the possibility of weapons in space, and Russia's reaction to U.S. aims?

Originally posted by steerpikeFirst of all, it is not I, rather it is the country in which I reside in that is theoretically making these weapons for sattelite protection. Secondly, one of the reasons the U.S. criticizes North Korea and Iran about their nuclear intentions is that the leaders of those countries simply cannot be trusted to make rational decisions that are for the benefit of their own citizens. Many people in both of those countries are starving, poor, and have no home to call their own, and yet the leaders do little to fix these crises. If a country will not support its own people to the best of their abilility, how can we trust them to have nuclear capabilities?
