That old issues are recognized as history, no need to be discussed. That, we are where we are. Would it not be refreshing if Sunhouse wrote about anything but you know who.. ‘Anything’ would be defined as the future of this country. The now. Not the unfortunate January 6. We all know that happened. We all know it is being investigated, we all know that somebody probably should be put in jail. We agree. Why right about it. Why write about Trump unless he becomes a new factor with a new scenario? I do not care what Trump did yesterday. Do you really?

@averagejoe1 saidYou keep conveniently forgetting that he’s going to be the Republican candidate in 2024 and he still lies about the 2020 result and I guarantee he will make it clear once again that he will only accept the result of 2024 if he wins.

Tell me why the other side should accept the result if he does win given that he has no intention of doing the same?

@kevcvs57 saidFirst, to clear the air for all future posts about whether somebody accepts an election or not is a pure waste of time. That means Trump or you or sonhouse. The election will be over, and it will not change. I don’t care what Trump thinks whether he wins or loses. Please quit saying what people think. Stacey Abrams, Hillary all of them always denied the election. But what they think about it is irrelevant. It truly is.

So here your post is about whether someone accepts an election result or not. It doesn’t make a damn bit of difference if someone accepts it or not, it is what it is. How many times can I say that.,
As to Trump, of course, if he runs, we will write about him ad infinitum. We certainly should. But not about past history. We will write about his policies, and whether they will be as good as Kamala‘s policies will be. I think I make it too simple for you Fellers.

@kilroy70 saidThe storm will be fun, bring it. I am only saying that we will talk about current events I hope. If Trump runs for president why don’t we talk about it. Sean house will talk about what he did two years ago. What a waste of time I will not read those.

@kilroy70 saidKilroy has elected to post glib vignettes. Please. I don’t think I have ever seen a cogent adult post on the forum.
How can anyone forget something that hasn't happened? How does that work?
My point is clear, and respectfully to all, this place could get real boring to rehash stuff.
You all seem to avoid serious issues, for instance, Hunter. The government has enough on him to put him in prison on gun violations alone, you know that. Consider that Kamala becomes president, and of course, will pardon him along with Joe Biden, who technically could also go to prison. I don’t mean to throw a firecracker here, but it points up interesting discussions to be had. Or we can talk to Sunhouse about why in the world Trump put kids in cages. Aren’t we trying to have fun. ?
@kilroy70 saidHave you forgotten that the sun will rise tomorrow, I’m not sure which straw your grasping at.

Unless something quite dramatic happens trump will be the Republican candidate, unless you know something I don’t.
@averagejoe1 saidHuh you want to worry about small fry like hunter when you have a whole family of thieves and traitors waiting in the wings to get their grubby little paws on the money making machine that is the White House.

@kevcvs57 saidHow do you know Trump will be a Republican candidate two years from now? It's possible, but how can you say this with absolute certainty...

making small changes over time (incrementalism)
Why would they do that? Incremental changes over a long period of time allowed voters with short memories to be lulled into accepting changes (good or bad) without questioning them.
But three years is not nearly enough time for most people to forget how well this country was doing before the present administration took over. So why the rush to dismantle good policies and replace them with demonstrably bad ones?
The only reason I can think of for Democrats to allow such a strong contrast to be seen is a sense of urgency... fear of a successful Trump second term following a successful first term.
@averagejoe1 saidTo your question ......... Yes.....

Because he is still at it, and he will continue to be at it.
And he is a poster boy for authoritarianism in the US.
This not an old issue, or history as you might like to call it. It's happening now.
He admires Putin, takes a great, and complimentary, interest in Xi Jinping move to remove term limits from his rule.
He cuddles with Kim Jung Un.
And rattles at the traditional friends who are rooted in democratic ideals.
And cries about how America is treated unfairly by their friends.
Of course America is a country with 5% of the world's population consuming 25% of the world's natural resources. Define "unfair".
Now the Republicans may have ideas to offer that are worth looking at, I know the Dems have fumbled the ball on several occasions.
And I know the economy and inflation are very serious issues in the US, and other countries.
But if you go about dealing with inflation, crime, immigration before you deal with protecting your democracy ????
Well, you know what I think ....... re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic !!!!
@kevcvs57 saidHe has already started raising "red flags" about results in Pennsylvania and Georgia which are close races that could tilt either way.

i.e. - if we win, we celebrate, if we lose, we do the whole 2020 stuff over again.
@kilroy70 saidTrump hardly had a "successful first term". Even with a Republican controlled Congress in his first two years, he didn't pass a single piece of significant legislation except the inevitable tax cut tilted to the rich that every Republican President does. Even before he mismanaged COVID, the American People had already passed judgment on him by delivering a smashing victory for Democrats in 2018. And once the pandemic hit and the economy collapsed, he had no ideas to fix it.

@no1marauder saidThe Repubs won two seats in the Senate in 2018. IDK if that’s a Dem “smashing victory”
