I am an environmentalist, atheist, and progressive liberal;
Generally I want a fair society whereby the government bridges the gap on market failures and general unfairness (due to background or whatever) capitalism causes, both in the short term and in the long term.
Nationalisation of things is perhaps only a good thing under certain circumstances I feel, nationalising say the steeling industry is unnecessary; but (when properly funded) national healthcare is overwhelmingly a good thing (humans and their health/lives are all important). Perhaps even nationalisation of transport is a good thing, just look at Europe and how well that works.
As much as anything I also feel we must protect the environment (hence environmentalist), not so much because I hate capitalism and how it hurts mother earth, no, but because I know that in treating the earth badly will be our undoing, and will ultimately be a bad thing for us.
Treating the earth badly will generally rob future generations of their resources as well.

This is the theme of a " environmentalist, atheist, and progressive liberal." ... fair.
Life should be fair .. but isn't and can't be, therefore it's a failed concept, a failed phillosphy.
"Fair" is an ideal and has nothing at all to do with reality.
It's the old story .. crap in one hand and hope in the other .. see which gets full first.

I was just wondering what peoples philosphies were, why they are what they are, what you believe.
I am an objectivist.
Why? Because of the fact that out of all the philosophies I've studied it is the only one that does not try to impose it's will on anyone. All other ones I have studied the writers have at some point a part of what to do with the ...[text shortened]... n individual.
Any how I'm interested to hear what anyone else's philosphy is and why.
thats what my momma told me, when i was about knee high.
she said, son be a proud man and hold your head up high
walk tall, walk straight, and look the world right in the eye.
