@vivify said"Because the issue, again, the issue isn't success, it's the means by which whites gained their status: through oppression"
Right. But too often this term gets twisted by white privilege deniers to mean that non-whites are just jealous they're not at the status of whites. Like being jealous of the kid in school whose parents can buy him what others can't afford. That e4e guy implied this same thing on another thread.
Because of this, the conversation often needs to get dragged back to the mai ...[text shortened]... adar, all whites benefit in some way, shape or form from privileges gained through white oppression.
That's the history of it. Anyone with an ounce of education knows this, those who don't need to be educated. Changing the term doesn't mean anything because nothing you choose saves one ignorant from doing some research. An ignorant still needs to educate himself how whites came to be in power, how they benefit from the hundreds of years of slavery and oppression .
You change terms now and then you have to re-explain the new one. It's pointless.
There is nothing wrong with the term and it's certainly more suitable than white oppression. We are calling white privilege now the advantage whites have over non-whites in western countries, regardless of whether they are racists or not. You could be the nicest, most liberal thinking white person on the planet and you still benefit from white privilege. On the other hand if you call that person "you are guilty of white oppression" he will pull back from you, call you a lunatic. Oppression is intentional, privilege doesn't have to be
"As I said to Eladar, all whites benefit in some way, shape or form from privileges gained through white oppression."
Yes, exactly.

The post that was quoted here has been removed"White privilege is a problem the western world has, anyone who ever owned slaves, anyone who owned colonies, anyone who stole and pillage from minorities and didn't allow them to develop simply because they deemed them less than. "
So black africans (where US slaves were bought), were enjoying white privilege too?

"white privilege" is a pejorative term meant to slam ALL white people.
Are you liberals trying to send us back to "separate but equal" or something?
Sure looks that way.
@athousandyoung saidYou got a "poor boy discount" over there? I could use one of them.
