every one bashes on George W. Bush really hard about the job he's doing with the economy, war, etc.
but my question to anyone who criticizes him so hardly is this:
Could you do any better a job at leading this country through the first attacks on American soil in 60 years?
I think not.
Bill Clinton wouldn't have dona any better a job, as it was his slackened homeland security that enabled such an attack
1. No illegal wars
2. Use weapons inspectors.
3. Stop trying to assissinate Castro
4. Half military spending and double the diplomatic service.
5. Health care for all (financed by the halving of the military spending)
Wee things like that...

Next you'll be saying Van Halen sucked when DLR was their frontman!

If Europe wants to stay out of conflicts involving the US then thats their right. They should also butt out of US politics and the US should withdraw all of their troops from Europe. Be careful of what you wish for though, I hear the Russian "bear" growling and Putin sure has been running off at the mouth lately.
Surely the Germans had little choice in the matter post ww2 as to what arms they were allowed to bear, the format of their rearmament and the degree to which they were allowed to protect themselves.
Add to that a world that has grown disillusioned with the notion of a just war or an honorable battle, and you could probably explain the rest as to why the ar ...[text shortened]... ing more than conflict engaged in to protect the commercial interests of an international elite.

The "Can you have done better?" argument is very weak. For example, if all your relatives died in a plane crash through the pilot's gross incompetence, would you expect the airline to ask you, "Could you have flown that plane better?"?

Whenever someone provides a service to us, we pay them to very skilled and dedicated to what they do. We have the right to criticise as much as we want.

I think there will be some interesting times ahead of us. I just hope the US tells France and Germany to flock off when their borders are filled with T76 and T80 tanks.

Originally posted by slimjimYou really think that? American interventionism in other areas of the world seems to be quite a popular thing in Washington at the minute.
