When there's a presidential election in your country. Why do you vote for the party/candidate that you voted for?
1. Do you vote for your ideals?
2. Do you vote because you like the guy?
3. Do you vote because it will make you better? ( earn you more money or something like that)
4. Something else...

1. Ideals - no compromise Libertarian
Unfortunately in NZ , for the most part, people vote for the party that will 'give' them something...with little regard for the fact gummint can't give something that it hasn't first taken.
Consequently minorities get hammered i.e. employers, people that earn over 60k, farmers....

I don't believe in evil. (See your own thread 'THERE IS NO EVIL'😉
You could have had the common decency to let us know that evil now officially exists.

What makes you think the American democratic system has become a farce ?
I vote for ideals and politicians that seem to actually go with theirs instead of the party. Thats rate these days, so I vote for the lesser of two evils. In the primaries its all about ideals though. Maybe Jim Jeffords will run for pres some day.
And STANG, what you said about voting for minorities is just plain stupid. I have no problem voting for minorites, but why should that be a factor either way in how you vote. Don't do political affirmative action. I would vote for Powell (not that he'll ever run now), But I wouldn't vote for Rice in a million years. Deciding who to vote for based on their last name??! You are doing just as much harm to our society as those that vote for people just becasue their pastor told them to. Maybe even worse. I knew you were dumb, I didn't think you were so monumentally stupid.

No surprise there ... if you won at anything you did, I think you'd be disappointed in yourself.
btw I always vote for the soccialist party or the "green" party.

Would you really vote for someone based only on this criteria?
As I said, I vote for minorities such as groups with an environmental and ethical bent, women, people with an ethnic sounding second name, etc.
Also, I don't only vote. I produce T-shirts and carry placards against politicians who tell the biggest lies, etc.
