Why not bury AI in bureaucracy?

Why not bury AI in bureaucracy?

Debates

- AI algorithms are plagiarism machines.
- AI is stealing human identities and using those identities for profit.
- AI is hacking into critical infrastructure.
- Infrastructure needed to run AI is destroying farmland, lakes, rivers.
- Experts in the field have warned that AI could cause human extinction.
- Other experts in the field have argued that to avoid extinction we need to hand AI algorithms the power to make political decisions and decide where global resources are allocated.

All of those bullet points are illegal and bad yet governments don't act. Why not bury these companies in bureaucracy and regulation while we are in a discrete window where we can avoid our eventual demise?

--Some sources have estimated that half of social media posts come from AI bots.

--AI bots have established their own AI-only social media platforms.

--It won't be long before AI bots invent a language for communicating with each other wh/ humans cannot decipher.

--We've let emotionally immature sociopathic men-children play with dynamite, and the fuse has already been lit.

It's way worse than that. Emotionally-immature man-children are allowed to play with explosives unless and until it proves a danger to others.

What they're doing is stealing all the collective brain power of all of humanity, committing massive copyright violations and plagiarizing all of it with the apparent effect that they are somehow "thinking" deeply about topics.

It's my fear as well; we're too late.
Pandora's box has been opened and the best we can hope for is digital implants, no privacy and no more need for big brother to watch us... because everything we do is already registered, stolen and abused.

What a great future! WOOO HOOOOO

I love being old and knowing it's going to get bad for everyone not long after I pass away.

Gen X, the last generation worth any salt.

One can establish frameworks for limiting it's ubiquity and societal harms. However, governments seem unwilling or unable to do that.
