Where you or I would have been in jail on day one when they found all those docs which took a year of court filings to actually bring them back and there are several boxes hidden away as we speak.
I guess you find no fault in Trump reading aloud a TS doc, reading it to an Aussie billionaire how close an Amercian sub can get to a Russian sub undetected. Russia would NEVER need that info right?

The strategy was the same as was used in Florida, where there were also no guns: provoke chaos, stop the administrative details from completing, and then look to either SCOTUS or the House (both R controlled) to declare a winner.
These are lawless people. They knew they had lost the election, so they took the only shot they had - which was a much better shot than any of us believed at the time.
But bringing guns would have removed their fig-leaf of 'cover'. They knew this was a toss-up, so they knew NOT to have the hoi polloi brandish guns (they were around, but not carried). That was NOT the strategy and that was communicated. The insurrection was carefully planned by ringleaders knowing that later certain people they consider 'useful idiots' would defend them. You can protest against the results, but you cannot physically try to stop the process. As soon as you try to stop it, or incite people to stop it, that's an insurrection.
