@Pianoman1 saidHe went in without a plan. I guess he was (as I was) hoping that the IRGC would be toppled by the Iranian people. But now that this doesn't seem to be in the cards, there doesn't really seem to be anything to do. There's no way to force regime change without sending in tens of thousands of soldiers, which there is plainly no political support for.
And now the leader of the free world has delivered his latest foul-mouthed spluttering.
I quote:
“Open the f****** Strait, you crazy b******, or you’ll be living in Hell. Just watch. Praise be to Allah.”
The alternative is the "mow the grass" strategy. That is, you wait and watch, and every once in a while you go in and cut down their offensive capabilities with some targeted strikes and thus kick the can down the road. You hope that at some point, the people revolt and put in a less militant government. Until then, you just try to weaken them when they start getting strong.
That seems to be the best case scenario: Trump declares victory on these terms after limiting their offensive capabilities and then we pull back and watch it all happen again in a couple of years and hope that the regime falls in the meantime.
The problem is that if enough people goad him into thinking that he's lost the war, he'll continue it to spite them. If we would all humor Trump by declaring it a victory, the war would end tomorrow. But it seems that nobody can resist baiting him. So we have the man-child flipping over the board scenario.
@no1marauder saidWhat has Iran ever done .... Here it is :
What exactly has "Iran done" EVER which threatened the security of the US sufficiently to justify a $1.5 trillion military budget (and that's a one fiscal year request BTW; again you have bad information)? If we'd stop our incessant meddling in the Middle East, we'd have no problems with Iran at all, notwithstanding bellicose rhetoric from both sides.

Iran has funded and trained several militant groups designated as terrorist organizations by various countries, primarily through the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Quds Force. Major groups supported by Iran include Lebanese Hezbollah, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the Houthis in Yemen, and various Shia militias in Iraq and Syria.
Iran's key, documented funding, training, and weapon supplies include:
- Lebanese Hezbollah: Considered Iran's most successful proxy, receiving hundreds of millions of dollars annually.
- Hamas: Iran provides significant financial assistance and weapons to the Hamas military wing.
- Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ): Iran is a primary sponsor, providing funding and training.
- Houthis (Ansar Allah) in Yemen: Supported in their conflict against the Yemeni government and Saudi Arabia.
- Iraqi Shiite Militias: Numerous groups, including Kata'ib Hezbollah, have been trained and funded by the IRGC.
- Liwa Fatemiyoun and Zeynabiyoun: Militias comprised of Afghan and Pakistani Shia fighters, respectively, that fight in Syria and are directed by the IRGC.
The U.S. State Department has often highlighted Iran as a leading state sponsor of terrorism, with the IRGC Quds Force managing these relationships to project influence and fight adversaries in the Middle East.

@AverageJoe1 saidReally, GFY. You never stop lying on this board.
This one says to forget that they have murdered over 2000 Americans. Beirut, the works.
Marauder is likely one of those who is in favor of the liberal judges letting rapists and murderers out of jail. Am I right, Marauder? That is my logic, that if you want to let Iran go, it follows that you support letting killers and rapists out of jail.
Marauder says that going after their ass is meddling!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Find a history book and stop watching Fox News and you'll find out that the US has been meddling, including militarily intervening, in the Middle East for the better part of the last 100 years. Iran hasn't "murdered" any US citizens that I know of, but we've murdered plenty of Iranians including shooting down a civilian airliner in 1988 and all the civilians killed by bombing in these illegal, stupid war.
What was the US military doing in Beirut in 1983?
@Rajk999 saidSo what? Yes, they support groups in the area that interfere with US and Israel's plans for hegemony in the Middle East.

And if we weren't so interested in meddling in that part of the world, what would be the issue between the US and Iran? Sure, they have an oppressive government, but we get along fine with plenty of dictatorial sheiks, emirs and crown princes in the ME.
@mike69 saidThere was a kid at school, Geoffrey. Quite a weedy little fellow, but he hung out with a dull witted bully that would throw his weight around. Geoffrey would often parrot the insults delivered by the bully and have swagger in his own steps.
Does that mean your country is actually going step up and do your part? Many years ago you spent 3.4% and had a much larger, better military. Time will tell how well you can now protect yourself letting your military fall. What was ground forces in 2026 73k you sent 140k to Iraq. You can’t even fill your ships with trained navy at only 20k, planes needing repair, ships, subs, and on but just keep chanting free Palestine and save Iran their innocent.
Dude, you're Geoffrey. - As for Trump, he will end up as all bullies do, isolated and out of his depth in the world.
And the UK? Well, we remain formidable. - Even putting to the side that we are an independent nuclear power, our military is a top-tier global force, ranked among the strongest in the world with a focus on advanced technology, highly professional personnel, and elite special forces.
You look a little daft trying to belittle our capability.
@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidUSA Spends $900 billion a year on defense. UK spends $60 billion a year.
Special Forces (SAS/SBS): The UK's Special Air Service (SAS) and Special Boat Service (SBS) are widely considered among the best trained and most experienced special forces in the world. They are often regarded as the pioneers in elite tactical operations and frequently train US special forces, including Delta Force and Navy SEALs.
I will give you though that the UK does punch above its weight.

@no1marauder saidWhat ‘would’ the issue be,?? the word ‘would’ beingthe operative word in the sentence.

They WOULD nuke everyone around them about six months from now and start aiming at the USA !! so that would be the issue
And you compare them to sheiks emperor‘s princes and emirs???? I hate to break it to you, but they are common animals. They are no higher than a hyena.
You must be texting during church.
@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidExactly.
We patiently await your next Democrat president to start clearing up the mess on the global stage caused by Trump and his sycophants.
The US is a great country and remains our greatest ally. You just need to get your house in order.
I believe erasing all Trump influence will go a long way towards the return to normalcy.
Maybe politicians won't lie as much.
I know, good luck with that. I'd be happy with more transparency.
@AverageJoe1 saidTrumpian idiot.

@mike69 saidLook at the redneck American criticizing Britain.
2026 has been a horrible year for Britain’s Royal Navy, whose strength has now — depending on how it is calculated — fallen to historic lows.
The issue has caused a serious political flare-up after it emerged that the navy could not send an advanced destroyer for the defense of Cyprus after a UK air base came under drone attack on March 2. HMS Dragon finally sailed on March ...[text shortened]... oritize Britain’s fighting power over its organizational structure at a time when it is needed most?
@Suzianne saidWill the next president get rid of the Abraham accords? You did say that he had never done anything right, so do we keep the Abraham accords as good ,or get rid of them as bad ?thank you very much.
Exactly.

(Don’t get conflicted now)
@no1marauder saidThey were legally there in Beirut. They were slaughtered by Iran. You sure you want to tackle that one.?
Really, GFY. You never stop lying on this board.

The first part of your post is very telling, that you support all that has ever happened in Iran creepy at best.
It’s Easter. You don’t think the Iranians would take out Saint Peter Square do you? Naaa, they wouldn’t do that.
As for my lie, I did have poor information on the 1.5 trillion covering multiple years. So instead of being 96% right all the time I’m now just 94% all right all the time. When I beat you on this issue, I’m gonna ratchet it back up to 96%.
@Suzianne saidOne of his own people today said that he has some things in mind, but he is not disclosing it to the people around him. I hate to tell you, but that includes you.
Exactly.

So he is not transparent. Was Biden transparent? What is your definition of transparent anyway?
I am really upset that he and his generals did not disclose to the USA public that the second airman was hiding in a crevice, and maybe give us some coordinates. I am with you on that one.!!!
