How much defamation or "injury to his reputation" could a 5 year old suffer?

I'm guessing mom got her nose out of joint after the store refused to honor her receipt for the crisps.

After court costs and legal fees, she'll be lucky to see 1,000 euros of the award.

why should a five year old be treated any differently than an adult in this case?

It's a market where you can have your supper.
If you're too late, you can have the last supper.
