Is this a record for the site?

If not what is the highest known ratings rise?

This sounds like the beginning of a cheating allegation.

But it's not the end, so it doesn't matter.

Just like, "A blonde walks into an adult store..." sounds like the start of a sexually explicit joke, but it doesn't "solicit" any minors without the end.

Very possible if you had joined the site on day 1 of the climb and played a few people rated highly enough. (p1200 to 1700)

Most other scenarios make it highly unlikely.

Come on then.... who was it? Dare you risk the gagging order?

You people are all missing the obvious answer. I'd say the highest fast rating rise would be when a fairly highly rated player who plays a lot of games looses them all on timeouts and has their rating drop to practically nothing, and then accepts a ton of games, mostly against lower rated players because higher ones won't play them, and wins like 100 games in a row. I only think of this because it kind of happened to me (not that many wins and not that strong). So if someone a few hundred points or more stronger than me did the same thing, it stands to reason that the rating rise would be really big and really fast, or at least bigger and faster than this alledged cheater.

Another possibility is a new player starting at 1200, with an 1800+ skill level. A friend of mine just joined who has a rating of 1809 last I checked on a blitz site. I'm expecting he will be kicking all sorts of butt here, straight from the gate.

First off, blitz rating is not equal to coorespondance rating neccesarily, although he is probably quite strong. Just need to point that out.

The main reason I think the record is probably held by a timeout recovery rather than a new player, is that after losing a lot on timeouts, you can drop below 1200 and still make the same recovery, although it will be over a larger distance, for a greater overall increase.

If your friend gets to 1800, then drops to 900, then recovers back to 1800, that will be the one that holds the record for biggest rise in X days, not the initial one.

The person in question has been notified to game mods.

They are not a new player!

I don't wanna be gagged 🙂
