hope
noun
1. the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best
I seem to be losing my ability to hope (and see at night, but that is another thread).
I am down to - I hope I live 10 more years to see my youngest to her 25th birthday. All my kids will be "adults" then and I will have probably fulfilled my responsibility when I decided to become a parent.
Do you still hope? What for?

I remember my mother used to say:
"When parents think they have done their part, they become grandparents."
There are always things to hope for - for yourself and others: a good life.
I don't have to hope for that - I have that. And it's great - I am certainly not complaining.
I mean the specific act of "hoping". Seems kind of meaningless to me now for some reason.

Now I am getting pity PMs.
Stop.
My life is great. I love my life. I have everything I want and I worked for it not hoped for it.
I asked what you hope for. That's all.
Enough, please let this hopeless thread die. I have learned my General Forum lesson trying to ask a real question instead of asking if anyone has seen my cat.
Have you seen my cat by the way?

Of course a thread like this might worry many of us, I was organizing my thoughts for a PM to you when I read this post. This forum and how it has been for a time now is nothing like it used to be, and of course people are going to react to a thread like this as they'd react if they were talking with someone at a bar or on the bus.
Now get your chin off the ground, man! If I can be of any service, drop me another PM any time.

What do you hope for?
Money? Fame? Health? Happiness? Peace of Mind? Higher chess rating?
