Yeah, a good tip whenever you're travelling is to change some big money to small notes at the hotel, or a reputable store. I do that then keep my big wad in an inside pocket, and wrap a few 1000's in the small notes so when you take the money out your pocket, it looks like you're skint...works great in bartaring situations, when the seller sees that you have no big money to give him 😉
