Congratulations to the US. Voter turn-out seems to be highest for decades. The important thing for me is that if you get 120 million+ people going out and vote for, realistically, 2 candidates, then you can be confident that you will benefit from the majority vote.
It seems like President Bush won this election, also the fisrt President to win the popular vote since 1988 as well. That says a lot. We do not have to agree with the majority, or the candidate, but real freedom means that you accept the outcome of the vote.
I just got this off the BBC website:
--------
Recent polls suggest that supporters of the two rival candidates have little respect for their opponent.
An NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll asked people whether they agreed or disagreed with the statement: "No matter who wins the election, America will have a good president."
Just 30% said they agreed while two-thirds said they disagreed.
The sharp division revealed by the election, then, could persist well beyond voting day.
-------
This is realy worrying. Since 2000, I have never seen people actualy openly "hating" the President (Bush). You can come up with whatever reason for that, just look at the effect. It has tunred into a them and us, confrontational type of political discussion.
True freedom and democracy wants people to disagree, because sharing differing views help to build common ground, share different view that will affact people. But this only work if you can still respect peopel as human beings.

Hi.
[So when exactly does this "war on terror" end?]
Probably as soon as "affirmative action" levels the playing field of people who were discriminated on the grounds of race.
How should I know? I didn't start it!
[Care to define what it is exactly? ]
Good question. I would refer you to it's authors.
[Have you ever fought in any wars?]
Yes, but it's not something that I am interested to discuss. What I will say is this, war is very destructive. War IS a political option - albeit the last option. As long as human beings are trying to establish "Peace on earth" there will be war.
[Just curious...]
Thanks!
